COVID-19 cases in India rises to 694, death toll now at 16
March 26: The death toll due to COVID-19 in India rose to 16 on Thursday and the number of positive cases increased by nearly 90 to 694, according to the health ministry. In its updated figures at 8 pm, the ministry stated that 16 COVID-19 deaths were reported so far in the country. According to the data, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the country stood at 633, while 44 people were either cured or discharged and one had migrated.
The confirmed cases comprise 647 Indian nationals and the remaining cases are of foreign nationals. The 16 Coronavirus deaths till now were reported from 10 Indian states and union Territories. While there is a general decline in the number of new cases detected, this is not the time yet to be relaxed about the situation, joint health secretary Luv Agarwal said in a press conference. “We are in the local transmission stage currently. We will notify if we find traces of community transmission.”
In the world context, the total figures of active cases reached 4,91,276, out of which, 3,51,051 were active cases. 1,18,060 persons have recovered and 22,165 persons succumbed to coronavirus.
