Corona: Schools/Colleges in Assam not to hold morning assembly, exhibitions, excursions till 15 April
March 14: In the wake of rising instances of coronavirus in the country, the Assam government has also adopted preventive measure. In a notification issued by Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Education, Govt of Assam on 14 March, 2020, various preventive measures were stated to contain the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state, which includes:
- There shall not be any form of ‘Morning Assembly’ in the schools/colleges/ higher educational institutions etc.
- No exhibitions etc. shall be organised in the schools/colleges/ higher educational institutions etc.
- No excursions or exposure visits shall be undertaken by the in the schools/colleges/ higher educational institutions etc.
- Awareness, sensitisation of the students and enforcement of preventive interventions among the students by the teachers such as (a) frequent hand wash that should start with the commencement of classes (b) respiratory etiquette (using handkerchief over mouth while coughing/sneezing), avoid gatherings etc.
- The heads of the institutions will ensure necessary sanitation measures accordingly.
It was further notified that the above measures in public interest should be made effective immediately and shall remain in force till 15 April, 2020. Thereafter, on review of the scenario on the coronavirus affect, further instruction will be issued by the state government.
The said notification was addressed to the Director of Higher Education Assam, the Director of Secondary Education Assam and the Director of Elementary Education Assam.
