Corona Positive in Manipur, 1st Case in NE

২৪ মার্চ: মণিপুরে করোনা পজিটিভ ধরা পড়ল৷ ২৩ বছরের এক ক্যানসার গবেষিকা গত ১৯ মার্চ লন্ডন থেকে ২১ মার্চ বাড়ি ফেরেন৷ ১৯ মার্চ লন্ডন থেকে দিল্লি আসে সে৷ পরে দিল্লি থেকে কলকাতা৷ একইদিনে তার ছোট ভাই আটলান্টা থেকে কাতার হয়ে কলকাতা আসে৷ দুইদিন ভাইবোন ওখানকার এক হোটেলে থাকেন৷ ২১ মার্চ তারা বিমানে কলকাতা থেকে আগরতলা এবং শেষে আগরতলা থেকে ইম্ফলে ফেরেন৷ নিজের শহরে নেমে বিলাতফেরতের তথ্য চেপে যান৷ ফলে সাধারণ থার্মাল টেস্টের পরই বাড়ি যেতে দেওয়া হয়৷

গোপন সূত্রে খবর পেয়ে সোমবার বিকালে পুলিশ ভাইবোন সহ পরিবারের সবাইকে হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যায়৷ সকলের রক্তরসের নমুনা সংগ্রহ করে পাঠানো হয় জওহরলাল নেহরু ইনস্টিটিউট অব মেডিক্যাল সায়েন্সেস (জেএনআইএমএস)-এ৷ মঙ্গলবার সকাল ৬টা ৪০ মিনিটে রিপোর্ট বেরোয়, তার দেহে করোনা ভাইরাসের জীবাণু বাসা বেঁধেছে৷ তাকে একেবারে একা এক আইসোলেশন ওয়ার্ডে রাখা হয়েছে৷ তার ভাইকে ঘিরেও বিশেষ সতর্কতামূলক ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হয়েছে৷

একজন ক্যানসার গবেষিকা কী করে এমন তথ্য গোপন করে বাড়িতে বসে রইলেন, প্রশ্ন ওঠে৷ সঙ্গে আতঙ্ক ছড়িয়েছে, ভাইরাসবাহী হয়ে কার কার সংস্পর্শে এসেছেন তিনি৷ পুলিশ ও স্বাস্থ্যবিভাগ এখন তাদের চিহ্নিত করে চলেছে৷ একে একে সবাইকে আইসোলেশনে রাখা হবে৷

ইম্ফলের থংমেইবাঁধ তাঁর বাড়ি হলেও মণিপুর সহ গোটা উত্তর-পূর্বে এ নিয়ে ব্যাপক আতঙ্ক ছড়িয়েছে৷ উত্তরপূর্বে এটিই প্রথম করোনা ধরা পড়ার ঘটনা৷

March 24: The first Corona positive case was reprorted from Manipur on Tuesday morning.  A 23 years old cancer researcher returned from United Kingdom (England) on 21 March. She hails from Thangmeiband area of Imphal West in Manipur. The lady travelled from London to Delhi and then from Delhi to Kolkata on 19 March.

On the same day, her brother returned from Atlanta via Qatar to Kolkata. There they stayed for two days in a hotel.Then they traveled from Kolkata to Agartala and finally from Agartala they reached Imphal. She concealed information about coming back from London. So naturally, the screening team in Imphal only performed thermal test on her and she was allowed to go home.

However, after getting the information from a secret source, the whole family was taken to hospital by police. Blood samples of all the family members were sent to the Jawaharlal Nerhu Institute of Medical Science (JNIMS). On Tuesday morning at 6.40 AM, the report was published where she has been declared COVID-19 positive. Currently she is under treatment at JNIMS Isolation Ward. Her brother is also under special observation.

As this is the first case in Northeast, naturally the entire region is in panic. At the same time her responsibility as a researcher is also being questioned.
