Congress gives memorandum to CM & seeks his attention on mid-day meal, syndicate, panchayat raj & Gandhi Bagh
November 8: A memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, Assam was submitted through the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar on Friday by Silchar District Congress Committee. A delegation comprising of former MP Sushmita Dev, MLA Rajdeep Goala, DCC President Pradip Kumar Das, former MLA Girindra Mallick & Ajit Singh, Sanjeev Roy, Abhijeet Paul, Sajal Banik, Debdeep Dutta and others handed over the memorandum to Laya Madduri, DC, Cachar for onward transmission to the CM.
In the memorandum, the congress party sought the immediate intervention of the Chief Minister on the following issues:
- The recent government order to provide mid-day meal at schools by NGO’s to be withdrawn immediately.
- High level investigation on existing illegal syndicate of coal, beetle nut, fertilizers, posto etc.
- Panchayat Raj system has totally collapsed in Cachar district. Immediate steps to be taken to implement & mobilise the system.
- To take measures to preserve greenery of Gandhi Bagh and stop the ongoing construction work.
Later on speaking to newsmen, former MP and President of All India Mahila Congress said that there are some burning public grievances on which immediate positive action by the state government has become a must at the earliest. In expectation of positive intervention of the Chief Minister, the Congress has appealed to the CM. She said, “These issues need to be immediately solved the state government.”
