Congress gave estimate of 49 lakh for a road which BJP completed with 10 lakh: Dilip Paul
September 30: Taking a dig at the Congress, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul said that the road which was made in 2018 at an expense of Rs. 10 lakh, the Congress gave an estimate of Rs.49 lakh for constructing the same road and that too in 2013. This he said during the inauguration ceremony of the 219 metres stretch of Moulavi Road in Ward No. 22.
On Sunday, two senior citizens of Moulavi Road inaugurated the newly constructed road in presence of the MLA Dilip Kumar Paul. The two senior citizens are Jyotsna Chakraborty and Bibha Dutta. An amount of Rs. 10 lakh was spent for this purpose which was sanctioned under Untied Fund of 2017-18. The work was executed by the construction committee.
In his brief speech, MLA Dilip Paul said that in 2013, when Susmita Dev was the Chairperson of Silchar Municipal Board, an estimate of Rs.49 lakh was made for constructing the Moulavi Road. However, the amount being an exorbitant one for a stretch of 219 metres only, it was not sanctioned by the concerned department. He said that four years later, when he took the initiative, the same road was completed with an amount of Rs.10 lakh only.
He pointed out that this was just a tip of the iceberg. Congress party is apt in quoting such inflated rates and thereby involved themselves in multiple corruption cases. It needs mention here that Mr. Dilip Paul is also a resident of Moulavi Road.
