Congress delegation meets RGI, seeks removal of Hitesh Dev Sharma as NRC state Coordinator

November 19: In another significant development, a Congress delegation led by former minister Rokybul Hussain met the Registrar General of India (RGI) Vivek Joshi in New Delhi on Tuesday. The Congress leaders placed the demand of removal of Hitesh Dev Sharmna as the new National Register of Citizens (NRC) state Coordinator.

In this regard, they also submitted a memorandum to the RGI. In the memorandum, they stated that Sharma has made persistent and very strong anti NRC comments on his Facebook page over last 2 to 3 years. In this backdrop, they stated that such a person cannot be allowed to continue in this post. They further wrote, “His Facebook posts clearly indicate that he does not believe in the Supreme Court mandated project and will have no intention to carry forward the project in a fair and balanced manner.”
