Complaint filed against Himanta by AIUDF MLA for live streaming Assembly speech on Facebook

January 15: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) legislator Aminul Islam has reportedly lodged a complaint against Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for live streaming his speech on Facebook during the special session of the Assam Legislative Assembly. On 13 January, 2020, Himanta Biswa Sarma was speaking on the issue of Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the same was streamed live in social media by him.

It needs mention here that AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam was suspended for three days by Assam Assembly Speaker in 2017 for using Facebook Live to broadcast his speech. He had streamed live his speech he gave in Assam Assembly on the contentious illegal Bangladeshi migrant issue on Facebook.

In his complaint, MLA Islam mentioned that though Himanta Biswa live streamed on a contentious issue like that of citizenship, yet still now no action was initiated against him. He expressed resentment on the ground that in 2017, he was punished for the same act but now the Speaker failed to act against Himanta.
