১৯ অক্টোবরঃ চাতলায় উদ্ধার হল মা-মেয়ের মৃতদেহ। মা মীরা রী বছর চল্লিশের কোঠায়। মেয়ে সঙ্গীতার বয়স ১২-১৩ বছর। তারা ওই এলাকারই বৈরাগীটিলায় অখিল দাসের বাড়িতে থাকতেন। শনিবার সকালে গ্রামবাসী বিলের ধারে মৃতদেহ দুটি পড়ে থাকতে দেখে চমকে ওঠেন। পুলিশে খবর দেওয়া হয়। উপুড় অবস্থায় পড়ে থাকায় প্রথমে তাদের কেউ চিনতে পারেননি।

পুলিশ গিয়ে তাদের বিলের পাশ থকেে তুলে আনলে মীরা ও সঙ্গীতাকে শনাক্ত করা হয়। গোয়েন্দা কুকুর ঘটনাস্থলে রক্তের গন্ধ শুঁকেই অখিল দাসের বাড়িতে ছুটে যায়। পুলিশ সে বাড়িতে তল্লাশি চালিয়ে শাবল, গামছা ও প্লাস্টিকের রশি খুঁজে পায়। অখিল পলাতক। প্রাথমিক তদন্তে পুলিশের অনুমান, অখিলই খুনি। সম্ভবত প্রথমে শাবল দিয়ে ক্ষত-বিক্ষত করে পরে শ্বাসরুদ্ধ করে মারা হয়েছে।

মীরার বাবার বাড়ি কোথায়, জানা যায়নি। তবে চাতলার এলাকাবাসী জানিয়েছেন, তার বিয়ে হয়েছিল ঘুংঘুর আউলিয়াটিলায়। সে বিয়ে টেঁকেনি। মাসছয়েক আগে অখিল মা-মেয়েকে তার বাড়িতে নিয়ে তোলে। এ নিয়ে বিবাদের জেরে কিছুদিন পরই তার স্ত্রী দুই সন্তানকে নিয়ে বেরিয়ে যান।

এই অবস্থায় মা-মেয়ের রক্তাক্ত মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার বহু প্রশ্ন সামনে নিয়ে এসেছে। অখিলের রান্নাঘরে গিয়ে দেখা যায়, রাতে প্রচুর মাংস রান্না হয়েছিল। তবে খুনের ঘটনায় অখিলের সঙ্গে আরও কেউ জড়িত রয়েছে? কী সম্পর্ক ছিল অখিল-মীরায়? কী করে মীরার সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক গড়ে তুলল অখিল? আচমকা মা-মেয়েকে খুন করতে যাবে কেন সে? তার স্ত্রী-সন্তানেরা কোথায় আছে এখন? পুলিশ সমস্ত প্রশ্নের উত্তর খুঁজে বেড়াচ্ছে, জানিয়েছেন অ্যাডিশনাল পুলিশ সুপার জগদীশ দাস।

October 19: Crime seems to be on the rise in this once proud ‘island of peace’ Silchar. Every other day murder, rape, abduction, narcotics hit the deadlines. On Saturday morning, two dead bodies were noticed by the local people lying in a mysterious position at Boiragi Tila area of Chatla in Cachar district. Chatla is on the way to Assam University, Silchar.

After the locals spotted the bodies, they at once informed the police. Police from Assam University out post reached the spot at once. They recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).

Additional Police Super Jagadish Das said that both the deceased are female. Police is carrying on investigation. They are waiting for more details to come up soon. Meanwhile locals informed that  one of them seems to be around 40 years while the other appears to be a minor.

People of the locality identified the deceased and said that they used to stay in the house of one Akhil Das in that village. The deceased were identified as mother and daughter belonging to the Ree community. Mira Ree (the mother) and Sangita Ree (the daughter) were staying in the house of Akhil Das for sometime. Mira Ree due to marital discord left her husband’s house at Meherpur, Auliyatilla and then started to stay in the house of Akhil. Meanwhile, it was also learnt that Akhil’s wife has left him some 6 months ago and now resides somewhere else with her 2 children.

Police brought in sniffer dog which led them to the house of Akhil Das. Locals informed that a blood stained towel and an iron rod was also found there. Akhil is absconding.

Speaking to way2barak, one of the local people said, “It is indeed a matter of grave concern. We are really very scared. We don’t know how these two died in our locality. Police should have to find out the reason of their death and also make efforts to trace the mystery surrounding the death of them.”
