City Livelihood Centre, first of its kind in Barak Valley inaugurated in Hailakandi

November 12: City Livelihood Centre, first of its kind in Barak was inaugurated by Minister for Excise, Fisheries Parimal Suklabaideo on Monday. This centre at Hailakandi Municipality Board will act as a one stop centre for display of wares by various SHG members and connecting point for market traders. City Livelihoods Centre (CLC) under DAY-NULM is a platform for the SHG members whereby they can offer their goods and services in an organized manner to the potential buyers and can access business support services as when needed.

The guests were welcomed by presenting them handwoven materials made by SHG members of Ashwas Group, Hailakandi. CLC website was also launched by the minister and Revolving Fund was distributed to various SHGs.

Minister Suklabaidya was impressed viewing the various products at display like pickles, snacks, sweets, cloth bags, bamboo products, paintings (all handmade by the SHGs) and became the first customer of the centre as an encouragement to the SHGs. The program was attended by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi,, Executive Officer, Hailakandi, Pradip Timung ACS, Executive Officer, Lala, Jyotirmai Daimary ACS, MLA LA 6 representative, Lead District Manager Manna Das, NULM team and others. An appeal was made to all to visit the Centre and support the SHGs in expanding their market connectivity.
