উদ্ধার হলো সাংস্কৃতিক কর্মী, শিক্ষক বিশ্বজিৎ (বিষ্ণু) করের মৃতদেহ। মনসা প্রতিমা বিসর্জনে গিয়ে সদরঘাটে বরাক নদীতে তলিয়ে গিয়েছিলেন তিনি। আজ সকাল সাতটা নাগাদ মাসিমপুরে তাঁর মৃতদেহ দেখতে পাওয়া যায়। ভাঙন ঠেকাতে সেনাবাহিনীর পক্ষ থেকে নদীর পাড়ে যে পারকুপাইন ফেলা হয়েছিল তাতেই আটকে ছিল ওই মৃতদেহ। খবর পেয়ে আত্মীয়-পরিজনেরা গিয়ে বিষ্ণুবাবুকে শনাক্ত করেন। । মৃতদেহ ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য মেডিক্যাল কলেজে নেওয়া হয়েছে।

তাঁর মৃত্যু নিশ্চিতই ছিল, তবু দুদিন ধরে সবাই আশায় ছিলেন, কোনোভাবে যদি বেঁচে থাকেন তিনি। আজ সে অপেক্ষার অবসান হতেই আত্মীয়-স্বজন ও পরিচিত মহলে শোক ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। বিশেষ করে, সাংস্কৃতিক কর্মীরা বাকহারা।

After 2 days of drowning in river Barak at Sadarghat during Manosha idol immersion, the deadbody of Biswajit Kar (Bishnu) was found at Machimpur. Today morning at around 7, a deadbody was noticed by the local people. In order to prevent soil erosion, embankment was built by the army on the river bank. The deadbody was found to be struck over there.

Police recovered the body and informed his family members for identification. His relatives and well wishers identified the deadbody as that of Bishnu. Though his death was almost certain, yet since the last 2 days there was some hope against hope. But with the identification of his body, all hopes were shattered into pieces. His body has been sent to Silchar Medical College for post-mortem.

A teacher by profession, Bishnu Kar was aslo an active cultural activist. Known for his amiable nature, his death has been mourned by many.
