১০ ডিসেম্বর : পাঁচগ্রাম কাগজ কলের বর্তমান অবস্থা সরজমিনে ঘুরে দেখতে রবিবার বরাকে এল সিবিআইয়ের এক প্রতিনিধি দল। এই দলটি সোমবার কাগজ কলের বিভিন্ন বিভাগ ঘুরে দেখেছে বলে একটি সূত্রে জানা গেছে। সিবিআই অফিসাররা মঙ্গলবারও কাগজ কল ঘুরে দেখবেন বলে জানা গেছে। বিভিন্ন সংগঠন কাগজ কল সম্পর্কে একাধিক অভিযোগ জানানোর ফলেই এই দলটি বরাকের একমাত্র বড়মাপের শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানটির হালহকিকত দেখতে এসেছে বলে ওই সূত্রটি জানায়।

এদিকে, কাগজ কলে বেশ কিছু উৎপাদিত কাগজ অব্যবহৃত অবস্থায় পড়ে রয়েছে বলেও সিবিআই অফিসাররা দেখেছেন। তাছাড়া, বিভিন্ন সময়ে কেনা বাঁশ ভেতরে পচে নষ্ট হচ্ছে, তাও সিবিআই কর্তাদের নজরে পড়েছে। প্রসঙ্গত, বন্ধ হয়ে থাকা কাগজ কলটি পুনরায় চালু করতে গত কিছুদিন থেকে আন্দোলন চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে এইচপিসি পেপার মিল রিভাইবেল অ্যাকশন কমিটি। গত সপ্তাহে পঞ্চায়েত নির্বাচনের প্রচারে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বরাক সফরের সময় পাঁচগ্রামে মানব শৃঙ্খল গড়ে প্রতিবাদ মুখর হয়েছিলেন কাগজ কলের কর্মী ও তাঁদের পরিবারের সদস্যরা।

December 10: A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) came to inspect Hindustan Paper Mill, Panchgram on Sunday. As per sources, the team went around the Paper Mill and took stock of the present status of the mill. The CBI team will also inspect the various affairs of the mill on Tuesday also. The CBI team has come on the basis of multiple complaints lodged by various individuals and organisations about the only heavy industry present in the the valley.

Meanwhile, the team also noticed a heap of paper manufactured at the mill but lying unused in the factory premises. Apart from this, the CBI team also saw huge quantity of bamboo in a rotten stage inside the complex. It needs mention here that a strong demand has been raised by the HPC Paper Mills Revival Action Committee to restart the paper mill and regularise the salary of its employees which is pending since the last 24 months.
