CBI raid at Silchar, brother of BJP MLA arrested

১৫ জুলাই : বর্ডার ফেন্সিং ও উন্নয়ন প্রকল্পে দুর্নীতির অভিযোগে একটি নির্মাণ সংস্থা ও এক রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত সংস্থার এক কর্তাকে আটক করল সিবিআই। সোমবার গুয়াহাটি থেকে সিবিআইয়ের একটি বিশেষ দল শিলচরে এসে অভিযান চালায়। সিবিআই অফিসাররা গৌতম কন্সট্রাকশনের সত্ত্বাধিকারী বিনোদ সিংঘি ও এনবিসিসি’র জোনাল অফিসার আর এন কতোয়ালকে আটক করেন ।

বিশ্বস্ত এক সূত্রে জানা গেছে, বিনোদ সিংঘি আসামের বিলাসীপাড়ার বিজেপি বিধায়ক অশোক সিংঘির ভাই। সোমবার সকালে সিবিআই অফিসাররা তাদের কার্যালয়ে গিয়ে তল্লাশি চালান। সূত্রটি জানায়, বেশ কিছু আপত্তিজনক নথিপত্রও বাজেয়াপ্ত হয়। এ দিকে অন্য একটি সূত্রে জানা গেছে, সিবিআই সোমবার বেশ কয়েকটি স্থানে অভিযান চালায়। এতে এনপিসিসির জোনাল ম্যানেজার সহ মোট সাতজনকে আটক করা হয়েছে।

বাকি ৫ জন হলেন গৌতম কনস্ট্রাকশনের ডিরেক্টর অণীশ বৈদ, একই ফার্মের রমেশ কুমার, এনপিসিসি লিমিটেডের লতিফুল পাসা, সুনীল কুমার ও ধর্মেন্দ্র কুমার। এদের মধ্যে নির্মাণ সংস্থার কর্মকর্তাদের বিরুদ্ধে ঘুষ নেওয়ার অভিযোগ রয়েছে। জানা গেছে, সিবিআই দিল্লি, জলপাইগুড়ি, শিলচর, গুয়াহাটি সহ দেশের বহু স্থানে অভিযান চালায়।

July 13: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted simultaneous raids at 18 places of India including Silchar, Delhi, Jalpaiguri, Guwahati, Gwalior etc. and arrested a total of 7 persons including public servants, contractors/businessmen and the like on Monday. The CBI raided these places and arrested the persons in connection with an alleged bribery case pertaining to contracts awarded by National Projects Construction Corporation Ltd (NPCCL). The case is regarding a bribe amount of Rs. 25 Lakh for processing and paasing of bills for contracts awarded by NPCCL.

At Silchar too, CBI raided and arrested one top boss of a nationalised company and a construction giant. A special CBI team from Guwahati came and conducted the raids on Monday. CBI arrested the proprietor of Gautam Constructions Binod Singhi and Zonal Officer of NBCC Rakesh Mohan Kotwal.

As per a reliable source, Binod Singhi is the brother of BJP MLA from Bilasipara Ashok Singhi. On Monday morning, CBI officials went to their offices and conducted the search operation. It was also learnt that the investigation team has seized lot of objectionable documents. Meanwhile, the two arrested have been taken to Guwahati for detailed investigation.

Out of the 7, the other five who were also arrested by the CBI are Anish Baid-Director of Gautam Construction, Ramesh Kumar of the same firm, Latiful Pasha, Sunil Kumar and Dharmendra Kumar of NPCCL.
