Cachar District Administration fix prices of essential commodities

January 13: A meeting with the officials of Merchant Association, Fishery Department along with Food and Civil Supply Department was held in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar on Monday. The meeting chaired by DC Cachar Barnali Sarma was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner A.R Majumder , District Development Commissioner Jessica Lalsim, Circle Officer, Silchar D.Pathak among others.

In the meeting DC Barnali Sharma took stock of the availability and prices of essential commodities viz onion, potatoes, pulses, mustard oil et.c and appealed to the merchant community to maintain the wholesale and the retail prices as per government norms. She also suggested that all the fair price shop owners should display the prices of all the commodities in front of their respective shops.

In the meeting, it was informed that beneficiary fish farmers of District Fishery Department will display fishes in front of fishery department for sale on 14 January and in Fatak Bazar. The price of fish will be fixed throughout the year as per rate approved by District Administration Cachar.
