১০ অক্টোবর: বিএসএনএল বন্ধ হতে চলেছে, এমনই খবর দেশজুড়ে৷ বিভিন্ন সংবাদসূত্র জানিয়েছে, কেন্দ্র আর কোনও অর্থ দেবে না বিএসএনএল বা এমটিএনএলকে৷ সেখান থেকেই আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে, অর্থাভাবে বিএসএনএল বন্ধ হওয়া শুধু সময়ের অপেক্ষা৷ কিন্তু শিলচর এসএসএ-র পক্ষ থেকে এই খবর উড়িয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে৷ ডিজিএম পিআর চন্দ জানিয়েছেন, এই খবরের কোনও উতস তাঁরা খুঁজে পাননি। তবে তিনি স্বীকার করেন, বিএসএনএলকে প্রতিযোগিতার বাজারে সংগ্রাম করেই টিঁকে থাকতে হচ্ছে। সরকারি অনুদানের ওপর অনেকটা নির্ভর করতে হয় এবং সরকার তা দিতে প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ। ফলে বিএসএলএল বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়া বা তালা ঝোলার কোনও আশঙ্কা নেই বলেই দাবি করেন তিনি।

Certain sources even quoted that the central government has decided not to pump any further money in BSNL and MTNL. It’s now only a matter of time that BSNL and MTNL will cease to exist due to financial crunch. However, SSA Silchar said that this news was baseless.
