Bridging Gap: Cabinet Meeting to be held soon at Silchar
August 20: “Last week I received a phone call from Sarbananda Sonowal ji, and he asked me to arrange a cabinet meeting at Silchar. He also entrusted me the responsibility of taking care of all works required for holding the same,” said Dr. Rajdeep Roy, BJP’s MP from Silchar.
Dr. Roy was addressing a gathering on the occasion of setting up a Mini-Secretariat in Barak Valley. On Tuesday, the state government formally started the process of setting up of the Mini-Secretariat with Bhoomi Pujan ceremony at Srikona in Cachar district.
It was in 2016 that a unique decision was taken by the BJP-led Sarbananda Sonowal government to hold a cabinet meeting in Majuli. This decision of holding a cabinet meeting outside the periphery of Dispur was appreciated by the people. A similar decision seemed to be on the cards once again.
Though Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MP Silchar did not divulge the exact date for holding this cabinet meeting in Barak Valley, yet this information is a clear indicator that the state BJP government is trying to bridge the gap between Barak and Brahmaputra.
