Blood donation camp on National Voluntary Blood Donation Day to be held at Silchar Civil Hospital on Tuesday
September 30: National Voluntary Blood Donation Day is celebrated in India on 1 October every year to share the need and importance of blood in the life of an individual. It was first celebrated on 1 October, 1975. It is organised by National Blood Transfusion Council (NBTC) and National AIDS Control Organisation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Government of India.
It is in this connection that a voluntary Blood Donation Camp has been organised by Cachar District Administration and Cachar District Health Society in collaboration with Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors Forum (BVVBDF), Lions Club of Silchar Greater and Blood Bank of Satindra Mohan Dev Civil Hospital. The camp will be organised on 1 October, 2019 from 11 AM onward at AMSA House, Civil Hospital Campus, Silchar.
Speaking to way2barak, Sabyasachee Rudra Gupta, President of Lions Club of Silchar Greater has appealed to all on behalf of the organisors to come forward and donate blood for the greater interest of humanity.
The main objectives of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day are:
• To increase awareness among the people and the importance of voluntary blood donation.
• To achieve 100 percent Voluntary Blood Donation, so as to be able to give the safest blood to the needy patients.
• To have enough blood stock in our blood banks for any eventuality.
• To give our thanks and reinforce the self esteem of those who donate blood voluntarily, so that they continue to do so regularly.
• To inspire those who has not donated blood but are in good health, to start donating blood.
• To inspire those donors who donate blood only for their relatives or friends, to donate voluntarily.
