BJP-AGP join hands to fight Lok Sabha Polls against Congress

March 13: Ending all speculations and forgetting all differences on the issue of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has once again come together to fight the Lok Sabha Elections, 2019 against their arch rival, Congress.

Ram Madhav, BJP’s national general secretary and in-charge of the Northeast, said on his Twitter handle: “After discussion, BJP and AGP have decided to work together in the coming Parliament election in Assam to defeat Congress. Announced it at Guwahati in d presence of Himanta Biswa Sarma of BJP and Atul Bora and Keshav Mahanta of AGP. BPF will be d 3rd partner in d alliance.”

The announcement came after top AGP leadership had an hour-long discussion with BJP’s central leadership. It may be recalled, the AGP which pulled out from the NDA alliance over Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, has formed a seven-member panel to chalk-out the party strategy and to recommend as to with whom the regional party should go in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

BJP general secretary Ram Madhav finally cemented ties between the AGP and the BJP. Assam will go for the Lok Sabha elections in three phases on April 11th, 18th and 23rd, 2019. The results of the election will be announced on May 23rd, 2019.
