অসম সরকারের ভাষাবৃক্ষে বাংলা নেই !Bengali excluded from language tree of Assam Government!
বৃহস্পতিবার ভোরে ‘মাইগভআসাম’ নামে সরকারি অ্যাকাউন্ট থেকে সেটি টুইট করা হয়। এ নিয়ে সমালোচনার ঝড় বয়ে যায়। ঘণ্টাপাঁচেক পরেই অবশ্য অসম সরকার টুইটটি সরিয়ে নেয়।
বাংলাভাষার সংগ্রামকে আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরে মর্যাদা দিতে এই দিনটিকে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস বলে ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। অসমেও বাংলাভাষীদের সংখ্যা কম নয়। জনগণনায় বাঙালিরাই রাজ্যে দ্বিতীয় স্থানাধিকারী। তিন জেলা নিয়ে গঠিত বরাক উপত্যকা বাঙালিপ্রধান এলাকা। বাংলা এখানকার সরকারি ভাষা।
এর পরেও কেন অসম সরকারের ভাষাবৃক্ষে বাংলা স্থান পেলো না, এ নিয়ে তরুণ লেখক তিলক পুরকায়স্থ থেকে অশীতিপর অবসরপ্রাপ্ত অধ্যক্ষ দিলীপকুমার দে পর্যন্ত অনেকে প্রশ্ন তুলেছেন। একে উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত বলে মন্তব্য করেন অনেকে। টুইটার তো বটেই, ফেসবুক, হোয়াটসঅ্যাপেও প্রশ্নের পিঠে প্রশ্ন আসতে থাকে। কেউ কেউ টুইটারে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করেন।

তারপরেই বেলা ১১টা নাগাদ দেখা যায়, ভাষাবৃক্ষটি সরিয়ে নিয়েছে সরকার। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সর্বানন্দ সোনোয়াল তাঁর ব্যক্তিগত অ্যাকাউন্ট থেকে টুইট করেন, ‘প্রত্যেক মায়ের মুখের ভাষা অতি সুমিষ্ট। মায়ের কোলে বসে আরম্ভ করা ভাষার মাদকতা সকলের জন্য এক। আসুন, প্রত্যেক জনগোষ্ঠীর মাতৃভাষার চর্চা ও প্রসারের মাধ্যমে আমাদের ভাষা-সাহিত্যকে সমৃদ্ধ করি।’
On Thursday morning, this ‘unique picture’ was tweeted from the official handle of mygovassam. This led to severe criticism of the Assam government. In the face of the controversy erupted by this picture, the tweet was deleted by Assam government from its official handle.
21 February is celebrated as the International Mother Language Day to give honour to the language movement and its martyrs in Bangladesh. Even in Assam, the number of Bengali speaking community is not less. As per census data, the Bengalis comprise the second largest populace in Assam.
Bengali is the prime language of Barak Valley comprising of the three districts of Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj. Moreover, Bengali is the official language of Barak Valley. Inspite of this, many has expressed surprise including young writer like Tilak Purkayastha to octogenarian retired Principal Dilip Dey.
Majority are of the view that this is a deliberate omission. Not only in twitter, but this issue has created a storm in other social media platforms as well. Many have commented posts drawing the attention of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. It is after the eruption of social volcano, the tweet was taken off from twitter by Assam government at around 11 in the morning.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted from his official handle “The language of every mother is very sweet. Learning of alphabets and words in the lap of the mother is same for all. Come let’s enrich the language and literature by professing and protecting the language of every ethnic community.”
