Awareness program on Blood Donation organised by Social Warriors Society along with BVVBDF

January 19: An awareness program on Voluntary Blood Donation was organised at Social Warriors Society, Rongpur, Silchar to remove the fear and misconceptions regarding blood donation. The awareness programme was organised in collaboration with the Cachar District Committee of Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors Forum (BVVBDF) on Sunday.

Mihir Kanti Shome, MLA, Udharband graced the occasion. Ashu Paul, Working President of Central Committee of BVVBDF, Debabrata Das, Vice President of BVVBDF, Dr. Manoj Kumar Paul were present among others in the awareness programme.

Speaking to our correspondent, Dr. Manoj Kumar Paul said, “We tried our best to convince the people who were present there about the fact that blood donation will not cause any harm to any body if the safety rules are followed and it will save lives of people in need of blood. At the same time, we put the issues relating to the functioning of Medical College Blood Bank and the problems faced by the donors before MLA Udharbond and requested him to look into the matter. He assured us to take up the matter with the authority.”

A voluntary blood donation camp was also organised in this connection by the Social Warriors Society in collaboration with BNVBDF. A total of 17 persons including 1 woman donated blood in this camp. The technical support was provided by Indian Red Cross Society Blood Bank, Silchar.
