Assam University Professor Ayesha to Visit Ireland to Present Research Paper

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ৭ মার্চ : আসামের চা–শ্রমিক সম্প্রদায়ের মধ্যে ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারের সুযোগ ও ডিজিটাল বৈষম্য নিয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ গবেষণা আন্তর্জাতিক মঞ্চে উপস্থাপনের সুযোগ পেয়েছেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের গণজ্ঞাপন বিভাগের অধ্যাপিকা আয়েশা তাহেরা রশিদ। তাঁর এই গবেষণাপত্র আগামী ২৮ জুন থেকে ২ জুলাই আয়ারল্যান্ডের গ্যালওয়ে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে আয়োজিত আন্তর্জাতিক গণমাধ্যম ও যোগাযোগ গবেষণা সংস্থার (আইএএমসিআর) বার্ষিক সম্মেলনে উপস্থাপিত হবে।

“সংযোগ থেকে ডিজিটাল সম্পদে: ইউনেস্কোর রোম-এক্স কাঠামোর মাধ্যমে আসামের চা–জনজাতিরন মধ্যে ইন্টারনেটের সার্বজনীনতা মূল্যায়ন” শীর্ষক গবেষণাপত্রে ঐতিহাসিকভাবে পিছিয়ে থাকা চা–জনজাতি সম্প্রদায়ের ডিজিটাল বাস্তবতা তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। গবেষণাটিতে ইউনেস্কোর রোম-এক্স কাঠামো প্রয়োগ করে পাঁচটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারের সুযোগ ও পরিস্থিতি বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়েছে। এগুলি হল— অধিকার, উন্মুক্ততা, প্রাপ্যতা, বহু-পক্ষের অংশগ্রহণ এবং লিঙ্গ ও টেকসই উন্নয়নের মতো আন্তঃসংযোগমূলক বিষয়।

১৯৫৭ সালে ইউনেস্কোর সহায়তায় প্রতিষ্ঠিত আন্তর্জাতিক গণমাধ্যম ও যোগাযোগ গবেষণা সংস্থা বিশ্বব্যাপী এই ক্ষেত্রের অন্যতম প্রধান পেশাদার সংগঠন। এবারের সম্মেলনের মূল বিষয় ‘প্রান্ত ও সংযোগ’, যেখানে ভৌগোলিক, সাংস্কৃতিক বা রাজনৈতিক দিক থেকে কেন্দ্র ও প্রান্তিকতার টানাপোড়েন নিয়ে আলোচনা হবে। সম্মেলনে অধ্যাপিকা রশিদ নিজে উপস্থিত থেকে তাঁর গবেষণার ফলাফল উপস্থাপন করবেন।

Way2barak, March 7 : Prof. Ayesha Tahera Rashid of the Department of Mass Communication at Assam University has been selected to present an important research study on internet access and digital inequality among Assam’s tea-worker community at an international platform. Her research paper will be presented at the Annual Conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), to be held at the University of Galway in Ireland from 28 June to 2 July.

The research paper titled “From Connectivity to Digital Resources: Assessing Internet Universality among Assam’s Tea Tribes through UNESCO’s ROAM-X Framework” highlights the digital realities of the historically marginalized tea-tribe community. The study applies UNESCO’s ROAM-X framework to analyze internet access and usage from five key perspectives: rights, openness, accessibility, multi-stakeholder participation, and cross-cutting issues such as gender and sustainable development.

Founded in 1957 with the support of UNESCO, the International Association for Media and Communication Research is one of the world’s leading professional organizations in this field. The theme of this year’s conference is “Margins and Connections,” focusing on the tensions between centers and margins from geographical, cultural, and political perspectives. Prof. Rashid will attend the conference in person and present the findings of her research.
