Assam Congress finally sever ties with its alliance partner AIUDF
Aug. 30: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi earlier during the week hinted that his party would soon sever ties with its pre-poll alliance partner AIUDF. On Monday, after a long discussion, the Core Committee members of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) informed that they have unanimously decided that AIUDF can no longer remain an alliance partner of Mahajot and in this regards will send intimation to AICC. The core committee observed that Mahajot alliance partner AIUDF’s behaviour and attitude in relation to the BJP party has baffled the members of the Congress party.
APCC President Bhupen Bora stated that the core committee also reiterated the earlier decision to give full authority to the PCC president, along with Working Presidents and Chairman of the LAC Constituencies constituted for the forthcoming By-Elections to make decisions in the matters of election strategy, candidate selection etc. By-elections have been necessitated in five Assam Assembly seats due to deaths and resignations of legislators.
