Assam CM urges people of the state to maintain peace ahead of publication of NRC
এনআরসি : জনগণকে শান্তি বজায় রাখার আহ্বান মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর

৩০ আগস্ট : জাতীয় নাগরিকপঞ্জি প্রকাশের প্রাকমুহূর্তে আসামের জনগণকে শান্তি সম্প্রীতি বজায় রাখার আহ্বান জানালেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সর্বানন্দ সনোয়াল। এক বিবৃতিতে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সনোয়াল বলেন, সুপ্রিম কোর্টের নির্দেশে রেজিস্টার জেনারেল অব ইন্ডিয়ার তত্ত্বাবধানে এনআরসির রাজ্য সমন্বয়কের মাধ্যমে ৩১ আগস্ট শনিবার এনআরসির চূড়ান্ত তালিকা প্রকাশ পাবে।

বরাক-ব্রহ্মপুত্র, পাহাড় ও সমতলের মানুষ তথা কেন্দ্র ও রাজ্য সরকারের সহযোগিতায় এনআরসিকে চূড়ান্ত রূপ দেওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে জনগণ আন্তরিকভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করেছেন বলে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী উল্লেখ করেন।

তিনি আশা প্রকাশ করেন, এনআরসির চূড়ান্ত তালিকা প্রকাশের সময় আসামের জনগণ আগের মতোই আন্তরিকভাবে সহযোগিতার হাত বাড়িয়ে দেবেন। এনআরসির খসড়া তালিকা প্রকাশের সময় বহু শক্তি আসামে অপপ্রচার চালিয়েছিল বলে উল্লেখ করে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এ দিন বলেছেন, আসামের জনগণের সহযোগিতায় সেসময়ও শান্তিপূর্ণ পরিবেশ অব্যাহত ছিল।

এনআরসি-র চূড়ান্ত তালিকায় নাম না থাকলে ন্যূনতম চিন্তা করার প্রয়োজন নেই বলে উল্লেখ করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। তিনি জানান, কেন্দ্রীয় স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রক এক বিবৃতির মাধ্যমে স্পষ্ট করে দিয়েছে যে, যাদের নাম বাদ পড়বে, তারা বিদেশি ট্রাইব্যুনালে আবেদন করার সুযোগ পাবেন। আগে এই আবেদনের সময়সীমা ৬০ দিন ছিল। কিন্তু জনগণের সুবিধা অসুবিধার প্রতি লক্ষ্য রেখে ৬০ দিনের পরিবর্তে তা ১২০ দিন করা হয়েছে।

সর্বানন্দ বলেন, যেসব মানুষ সরকারের কাছ থেকে আইনি সাহায্য চাইবেন তাদের সহায়তা দেওয়া হবে। এ নিয়ে কাউকে শঙ্কাগ্রস্ত হওয়ার প্রয়োজন নেই। তিনি বলেন, রেজিস্টার জেনারেল অব ইন্ডিয়া তথা রাজ্য এনআরসি সমন্বয়ককে জনগণ সহযোগিতা করে যাচ্ছেন। তিনি আরও বলেছেন, যাদের নাম এনআরসি তালিকায় অন্তর্ভুক্ত হবে না, তারা এ ব্যাপারে জেলা প্রশাসনকে জানাতে পারবেন এবং প্রশাসন এক্ষেত্রে সব ধরনের সহযোগিতার জন্য এগিয়ে আসবে।

August 30: In the backdrop of the publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) on 31 August, 2019, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday urged the people to maintain peace and tranquility in the state. Here is the full transcript of the address of the Chief Ministers towards the people of Assam:

“Namaskar, the updation process of the NRC is going to be completed and tomorrow, that is, 31 August, 2019, as per the direction of the Honourable Supreme Court, the State NRC Coordinator of Assam will publish the full updated copy of the NRC in Assam. This is for the first time happening in the country and in this regard, in the entire proceeding whatever support and whatever cooperation was extended by the people of Assam, I am always grateful to them.

I want to clarify some of the points for the people of Assam in this particular regard. Tomorrow, whatever list will be published; in this publication, the excluded person need not have to worry. In this regard, the Union Home Ministry has very clearly notified that whichever name will be excluded, they will get ample opportunity to appeal in the FT court. The earlier time period was 60 days, but now it has been extended for the convenience of the people for 120 days.

So as long as appeal will be there, no one will be treated as foreigners because to declare a person as foreigner, it is only the authority of the FT. So in this regard, no one has to panic and we on behalf of the Government of Assam want to assure you that everyone will be taken especial care of and whoever will require legal assistance, government of Assam will extend wholehearted support to them.

In this regard, I appeal to all of you to maintain peace and tranquility in the state of Assam as you have been always doing in the state. With this, I again hope that tomorrow will be a day of smooth publication of NRC.”
