‘Anybody contesting against us is our enemy’: BJP State President
December 2: Anybody who is contesting against us is our enemy. It is immaterial whether it is Congress or AGP. If they contest against us, they are our enemies. This is how the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Ranjit Kumar Das termed their political ally Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) in a Press Conference held at Silchar on Sunday.
Though still an ally, yet AGP has fielded candidates against BJP during the ensuing Panchayat polls. Probably, that is the reason for the State BJP President to rain anger upon its ally AGP and term them as ‘enemy.’ Mr. Das categorically mentioned that their only allies during the Panchayat Election 2018 are Rabha Aikya Mancha and Tiwa Aikya Mancha.
He further said that BJP would never allow any party (read AGP) along with other supporting tribes and communities to incite the people of Assam and spoil the culture and tradition of the Assamese community. He said that AGPs contention that 1.9 crore Hindu-Bengalis would enter Assam and spoil its culture and tradition is a misnomer. Mr. Das also criticised the Congress party for having different stand on the Citizenship Bill. He said the stand of Congress changes in Delhi, Dispur and Silchar. He also urged upon both the Congress and the AGP to stop playing politics over the Bill based on superficial data.
The Press meet at Silchar was also attended by BJP patriarch Kabindra Purkayastha, District President Kaushik Rai and State Spokesperson Rajdip Roy.
