Almost 50 percent names excluded from NRC! Check it how
August 31: After much speculation, the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was declared on Saturday. According to the Assam government, 19,06,657 people have been left out of the final list of NRC. The final list of citizens included a total of 3,11, 21,004 names. A total of 3,30,27,661 persons applied for inclusion in the NRC.
So, apparently it seems that only 19,06,657 persons were excluded in comparison to 3,11, 21,004 persons who found a place for themselves in the final NRC. However, the real picture seems to be quite reverse. The final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam was released on 30 July, with names of 40, 07,707 persons excluded from the list out of 3.29 crore applicants.
Out of these 40,07,707 persons who were excluded from the draft NRC, only 36,26,630 submitted claims for inclusion. That means a total of 3,81,077 persons who were excluded from the final draft did not claim for inclusion in the final NRC. Apart from the total figure of 36,26,630 applicants, objections were raised as against 1,87,633 persons. Further, on 26 June, 2019, an Additional Draft Exclusion List was published, wherein 1,02,462 persons were excluded. Now, if the three figures ( 36,26,630+1,87,633+1,02,462) are added, we get the total figure of 39,16,725.
Now, the fate of 39,16,725 was decided on 31 August, 2019. It is out of this figure of 39,16,725 that 19,06,657 persons were ultimately left out of final NRC. If we go by this statistics, it appears that almost 50 percent of applicants were excluded from the final NRC.
