AGM of Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha held; Sekhar Debroy becomes President & Ajoy Roy Secretary

Oct. 3: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha (SSM), the conglomeration of the socio-cultural organisations of Cachar district was held on Sunday in Silchar. During the AGM, renowned dramatist Sekhar Debroy was unanimously selected as the President of this prestigious cultural group. The post of General Secretary was retained by Advocate Ajoy Roy, who has been in this chair for the past three terms.

The other posts were adorned by:

• Vice President: Manoj Deb, Biswajit Das & Subir Bhattacharjee
• Asstt General Secretary: Joydeep Chakraborty, Sayan Biswas & Apu Sutradhar
• Treasurer: Tapas Sutradhar

Further, in 2019, there occurred differences of opinion among some of the cultural organisations and individual members with the committee members of the Mancha which led to their resignation. However, their resignations were not formally accepted by the Mancha. However, during the AGM on Sunday, their resignations were accepted by the house. Those who resigned are Dr Rajib Kar (individual member), Ganasur, Rupam, Dasharupak, Bhavikal and Chetana.

It is worth mentioning here that the Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha has crossed 25 long years and will be celebrating its Silver Jubilee amidst a host of events. The new committee members told that a detailed programme will be chalked out in this connection very soon.
