Another 5 Covid +ve patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours

16 patients in ventilator support & 116 put under oxygen at SMCH

May 18: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 05 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 05 deceased at SMCH during the last 24 hours, 03 are from Cachar district and 02 are from Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as:

  • Shiraj Uddin Choudhury (78) from Shahabad, Lala in Hailakandi district was admitted at SMCH on 14 May. He, died at 5.50 PM on 18 May, 2021.
  • Husne Ara Begum Choudhury (40) from Lala in Hailakandi district got admitted at SMCH in the morning on 18 May. She, however, breathed her last at 9.30 PM on 18 May.
  • Shankar Paul Choudhury (56) from Tarapur, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 16 May. He passed away at 10.45 PM on 18 May.
  • Dilip Roy (70) from Sarat Pally in Silchar took admission at SMCH on 15 May. He succumbed to the infection at 7 AM on 19 May.
  • Jiten Kangshabanik (74) from Bilpar, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 17 May. He breathed his last at 12.40 PM on 19 May.
