Covid +ve minister in Mizoram mops hospital floor where he is undergoing treatment

Example is better than precept

May 15: Though a small state, yet it may set an example for many large states. Mizoram’s power and electricity department minister R Lalzirliana (71), his wife & son were detected as Covid-19 positive. Initially, they were in home isolation. But as his oxygen level dipped, they were all shifted to COVID-19 hospital- Zoram Medical College (ZMC) in Aizawl on 12 May. His condition then became stable.

Mizoram: Home Minister R Lalzirliana served show-cause notice - North East LiveR Lalzirliana was on Friday seen mopping the floors of a hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for Covid-19. He said sweeping and mopping the floors are not new to him as he used to do such chores at his homes and other places. “My motive in mopping the floors was not to embarrass the nurses or doctors but I want to educate and lead others by setting an example,” said Lalzirliana.

The minister urged medical staff and nurses to show politeness to coronavirus patients as their good care can have a good impact upon the patients. Mizoram had witnessed several instances of ministers living as common men by performing household chores. VIP culture is almost non-existent in Mizoram. The minister’s act of humility is already going viral on social media. It needs mention here that he is also the longest serving minister-MLA in Mizoram.
