৮ নভেম্বরঃ স্কুটি দুর্ঘটনার জেরে মার খেয়ে প্রাণ হারালেন তরণীরোডের বাসিন্দা সুজিত দাস। বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে শিলঙের নেইগ্রিমস থেকে মৃতদেহ এসে পৌঁছালে এলাকাবাসী ও নিহতের আত্মীয়-পরিজনরা মৃতদেহ রাস্তায় রেখে অবরোধ গড়ে তোলেন। তাঁদের দাবি, খুনিদের গ্রেফতার করতে হবে। এফআইআরে নামধাম উল্লেখের পরও কেন তাদের ধরা হচ্ছে না, জানতে চান অবরোধকারীরা। অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার রাকেশ রেড্ডি বিশাল বাহিনী নিয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে উপস্থিত রয়েছেন।

দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে সোমবার রাত সাড়ে ১০টা নাগাদ। সুজিত দাস ওরফে ভ্রমরলাল দাস স্কুটিতে শিবকলোনি পেরনোর সময় এক মহিলার সঙ্গে ধাক্কা লাগে। তাতেই তার ভাইয়েরা সুজিতকে মারধর শুরু করে। সঙ্গে যোগ দেয় তাদের বন্ধু-বান্ধব। এলাকার পুর সদস্য সজল বণিক গিয়ে তাকে উদ্ধার করে হাসপাতালে পাঠান। অবস্থার অবনতি হওয়ায় ডাক্তাররা বাইরে নেওয়ার পরামর্শ দেন। পরদিনই তাঁকে শিলঙের নেইগ্রিমসে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়। কিন্তু বাঁচানো যায়নি। বুধবার শেষনিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন। বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে তাঁর মৃতদেহ শিলচর পৌঁছাতেই উত্তেজনা দেখা দেয়। রাঙ্গিরখাড়িতে অবরোধ গড়ে তোলেন শ-দুয়েক মানুষ। তাঁদের অধিকাংশ মহিলা। অবরোধের জেরে রাঙ্গিরখাড়ির চতুর্দিকে গাড়ির লাইন বাড়ছে। শহরে বিশাল যানজটের সৃষ্টি হয়। কালীপূজার মণ্ডপ দেখতে আজও বেশ কিছু দর্শনার্থী বেরিয়েছিলেন। তাদের বিপাকে পড়তে হয়েছে।

৩০ বছর বয়সী সুজিতের মূল বাড়ি বড়জালেঙ্গায়। জেসি ইন্টারন্যাশনালে চাকরির সুবাদে বেশ কিছুদিন ধরে তরণী রোডে স্ত্রী ও শিশুসন্তানকে নিয়ে ভাড়া থাকতেন।

November 8: Sujit Das, a resident of Silchar Tarani road, was beaten to death as a result of a scooty accident. On Thursday night, when his dead body came from NEIGRIHMS Shillong, his kith and kin kept the dead body at Rangirkhari point and blocked the road. They demanded that the culprits should immediately be nabbed. A huge crowd comprising of around 400 to 500 people questioned the police the reason for not arresting the culprits though the FIR lodged by the deceased family members clearly specified the details of the accused. Additional Police Super Rakesh Reddy reached the spot with a huge police force.

On Monday night, Sujit Das alias Bhromorlal Das hit a lady at Shib Colony area of Silchar. As such, the lady was mildly injured. At this, the brothers of that lady caught hold of Sujit and started to beat him mercilessly. They were accompanied by some other boys of the locality also. On getting information, local Ward Commissioner Sajal Banik rushed to the spot, rescued the boy and send him to the hospital. However, his condition deteriorated and so the doctors advised to take Sujit outside Silchar for better treatment. The very next morning, Sujit was taken to NEIGRIHMS Shillong. However, the doctors at Shillong failed to save him.

However, when his dead body was brought to Silchar from Shillong on Thursday night, people became infuriated and a huge mob kept the dead body at Rangirkhari point and gheraoed the road. The wife of Sujit , his kid and several women of the locality were also seen protesting sitting on the road. As a result of the blockade, there were long queue of vehicles on all sides. People who were on the streets were stranded for a long period of time.
