সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় পরেশ বরুয়ার মৃত্যু !
Paresh Baruah died in road accident!

৭ নভেম্বরঃ পরেশ বরুয়া মারা গিয়েছেন ! স্পষ্ট করে কেউ কিছু বলতে না পারলেও গোয়েন্দারা এমন খবরই পেয়েছেন বলে দাবি করা হচ্ছে। চিন-মায়ানমার সীমান্ত এলাকা রুইলিতে সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় মারাত্মক জখম হয়েছিলেন আলফা-র প্রতিষ্ঠাতা। দিনসাতেক আগে এই দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। মঙ্গলবার তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়েছে, এমনটাই গোয়েন্দাদের সংবাদ। সরকারি সূত্র জানিয়েছে, তারা এর সত্যতা জানার চেষ্টা করছেন। এখনও নিশ্চিত করা যায়নি।

গোয়েন্দাদের কাছে খবর ছিল, ৯ বছর আগে পাকাপাকিভাবে বাংলাদেশ ত্যাগের পর বরুয়া ঘনঘন রুইলিতে যেতেন। তাকে ধরে দেওয়ার জন্য ভারত বহুবার চিনকে অনুরোধ জানিয়েছে। তারা বরুয়ার চিনে থাকার কথা অস্বীকার করে। মায়ানমারের এক উচ্চস্তরীয় প্রতিনিধি দল কিছুদিন আগে এ দেশে এলে একই ধরনের অনুরোধ করা হয়।

তবে আলফা-ঘনিষ্ঠ বিভিন্ন সূত্র একে গুজব বলে উড়িয়ে দিয়েছেন।

November 7: ULFA supremo Paresh Baruah is dead! Though none is able to clarify with certainty, yet intelligence officials on the basis of ‘inputs’ are almost sure of this incident. Even the Indian Intelligence Agencies were unwilling to divulge much details at this hour, yet it has been learnt that Paresh Baruah met with a severe road accident in a place called Ruili on the Sino-Burmese border. Baruah is supposed to have fractured several ribs and a leg in the road accident. The accident occurred around a week ago.

Intelligence agencies were certain that Paresh Baruah left Bangladesh around 9 years ago and since then he frequented Riuli. Based on the inputs received from the intelligence, Indian government appealed to its Chinese counterpart for extradition of Baruah, but China blatantly denied his presence in their soil. A similar request was also made on the part of Indian Army to a high level Burmese delegation which visited India recently.

However, multiple sources close to ULFA have rubbished this news as ‘rumour.’
