Triumphant imprint of women power in Inner Wheel’s District Convention
নারীশক্তির সফল ছাপ ইনার হুইলের জেলা অধিবেশনে

২৮ জানুয়ারি: ইষ্টিকুটুমের পর আলাপনি৷ প্রথমটি ছিল শিলচর রোটারি ক্লাবের জেলা অধিবেশন৷ দ্বিতীয়টি তাদেরই মহিলা শাখা ইনার হুইল ক্লাবের৷ ইস্টিকুটুম বেশ কয়েক বছর আগের কথা৷ আজও বিভিন্ন জায়গায় এ নিয়ে চর্চা হয়৷ আলাপনি যে এ থেকে পিছিয়ে নেই, মঙ্গলবার উদ্বোধনী পর্ব থেকে বারবার তা স্পষ্ট হয়৷

রোটারি বা ইনার হুইলের জেলা অধিবেশন কি চাট্টিখানি কথা! পুরো উত্তরপুবের আট রাজ্য, সঙ্গে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বৃহদাংশ মিলিয়ে তাদের জেলা৷ শিলং, গুয়াহাটি, গ্যাংটক, মালদা, দার্জিলিং, ডিব্রুগড়, যোরহাট, দুলিয়াজান, বঙ্গাইগাঁও, ডিমাপুর… কত জায়গা থেকে যে প্রতিনিধিরা এসেছেন! সবাই খুশি শিলচরের কর্মকর্তাদের ব্যবস্থাপনা ও আতিথেয়তায়৷ ইনার হুইল ক্লাবের অ্যাসোসিয়েশন প্রেসিডেন্ট মমতা গুপ্ত সবাইকে সমাজসেবায় ব্রতী থাকতে উদ্বুদ্ধ করেন৷ বলেন, এই কাজে হাঁপিয়ে ওঠার ব্যাপার নেই৷ বরং যত করা যায় তত সন্তুষ্টি মেলে৷ তিনি শিলচর শাখা সহ ডিস্ট্রিক্ট ৩২৪ জুড়ে যে কর্মকাণ্ড চলছে এর ভূয়ষী প্রশংসা করেন৷

মমতাদেবীই ডিস্ট্রিক্ট চেয়ারম্যান সুমিতা সোমকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে সোমবার প্রদীপ জ্বালিয়ে ইনার হুইলের জেলা সম্মেলন উদ্বোধন করেন৷

কাছাড় ক্লাবের নবনির্মিত ভবনে আয়োজিত এই কর্মসূচিতে অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে উপস্থিত ছিলেন রীণা মজুমদার, অর্পিতা মুন্দ্রা, সুমনা চৌধুরী, পূবালি বুজরবরুয়া, অনিন্দিতা পাল, মৌটুসী রায়, ঝুমকি সাহা প্রমুখ৷

January 28: After ‘Istikutum’ it was now the turn of ‘Alapini’. The 1st was the District Convention of Rotary Club of Silchar, whereas the 2nd one was the 28th District Conference of Inner Wheel District 324. ‘Istikutum’ took place couple of years ago, though till now it is remembered as one of the most happening events. However, ‘Alapini’  was also another high voltage event to be reckoned with immense pride even by the posterity.

When it comes to any District Conference of Rotary or Inner Wheel, the event itself becomes grand primarily because of the vast geographical area covered under District 324. This District comprises of all the 8 states of North East India along with a major portion of West Bengal.

‘Alapini’ witnessed the active participation of members from Shillong, Gangtok, Maldah, Darjeeling, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Duliajan, Bangaigaon, Dimapur and many other places. It was indeed a conglomeration of women power devoted to the task of social upliftment. Smile adorned the faces of the delegates from outside Barak Valley at the hospitality and arrangement of the conference by the club members of Silchar. Likewise, there was an air of satisfaction among the local members to find all invitees enjoying the august gathering to their heart’s content.

Association President Mamta Gupta, who was also the Chief Guest of the ‘Alapini’, the 28th District Conference of Inner Wheel District 324 urged upon all members to devote themselves to the task of social upliftment. Her speech was indeed an inspiration for the audience to take up social service in everyone’s life in its truest stride. Mamta Gupta showered lavish praises upon the activities performed by Inner Wheel Club of Silchar and all other such clubs in District 324.

The Inaugural Session was followed by the Business Session. The evening marked the Gala Winter Carnival wherein a variety of entertainment events were showcased, which was enjoyed by all present to their hearts content.

The 28th District Conference of Inner Wheel District 324 was formally inaugurated on Monday afternoon by lighting the lamp by Association president Mamta Gupta along with District Chairman Sumita Som. The programme which took place in the new building of Silchar Cachar Club was also attended by Conference Chairman Anindita Dey Pal, Conference Convenor Moutushi Roy, Conference Treasurer PDC Sudha Mundra, Host Club President Jhumki Saha, Host Club Secretary Ankita Ghosh among others.
