Meherpur killer truck incident: VHS demands CBI enquiry

December 27: A memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Assam and signed by around 1900 persons were sent through the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar. The memorandum was given by the Cachar District Committee of Virat Hindustan Sangam (VHS). In the said memorandum demand was raised to institute a CBI enquiry into the incident of 30 October, 2019, when a killer truck carrying sacks of poppy seeds crushed 2 young girls and severely injured around 19 more persons at Meherpur, Silchar.

In the said memorandum, it was further stated that the truck was carrying poppy seeds and was moving at a very high speed in order to avoid detection by local people and administration. VHS raised the demand of CBI enquiry to prove the owner of the poppy seeds carried by the killer truck. In the memorandum, VHS urged upon the chief Minister to uproot the illegal activities, drugs abuse and syndicate as prevailing in Barak Valley.
