মেহেরপুর কাণ্ডে জখমদের ওষুধ কিনতে হচ্ছে বাইরে থেকে!
In the Meherpur incident, the injured have to purchase medicines from outside!

২ নভেম্বরঃ বুধবার রাতে মেহেরপুরে দুর্ঘটনার পর মেডিক্যাল কলেজের সমস্ত স্তরের কর্মী জখমদের চিকিতসায় যে ততপরতা দেখিয়েছিলেন, চারদিনেই তা অনেকটা হালকা হয়ে পড়েছে। এমনটাই অভিযোগ চিকিতসাধীন ও তাঁদের পরিজনদের। তাদের ক্ষোভ জনপ্রতিনিধিদের বিরুদ্ধেও। সাংসদ, ডেপুটি স্পিকার নিজেরা শত শত মানুষের সামনে বলেছিলেন, তাদের চিকিতসার যাবতীয় খরচ সরকার বহন করবে। ওষুধপত্র, পরীক্ষানিরীক্ষা কিছুর জন্যই এই দরিদ্র পরিবারগুলির একটি টাকাও খরচ করতে হবে না।

তাঁদের  এই আশ্বাস পত্রিকায় ফলাও করে প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল। বৈদ্যুতিন মাধ্যমেও দেখানো হয় তাঁদের গালভরা বক্তব্য। কিন্তু এখন তাঁদেরই বাইরে থেকে ওষুধ কিনতে হয়। কী লাগবে, কতটা লাগবে, কেউ আর খোঁজ নিতে আসেন না। মেডিক্যাল কলেজে ওষুধ চাইলে কখনও জবাব মেলে, স্টক শেষ। কখনও শোনা যায়, এই ওষুধ সরকারি সাপ্লাইয়ে হয় না। ফলে শারীরিক যন্ত্রণা তো রয়েছেই, সঙ্গে আর্থিকদিক থেকেও সমস্যায় তাঁরা।

সাংসদ রাজদীপ রায় অবশ্য তাঁদের এমন অভিযোগ অস্বীকার করেন। তিনি বলেন, আমি ব্যক্তিগতভাবে খোঁজ নিয়েছি। তাদের চিকিতসার প্রয়োজনে যাবতীয় ওষুধ মেডিক্যাল কলেজ দিচ্ছে। শুধু দুইজন রোগীকে Mupirocin ১ টিউব এবং Trypsin-chymotrypsin ১০টি ট্যাবলেট অমৃত ফার্মাসিতে কিনতে হয়েছে। ওষুধ কি পরীক্ষা, বাকি কিছুতেই তাঁদের কানাকড়ি খরচ লাগেনি। এমনকী, নিজেদের সংগৃহীত রক্ত পেতেও যেখানে চার্জ লাগে, সেখানে তাদের না ভাবতে হয়েছে রক্তের জন্য, না লেগেছে এর কোনও ফি।

রাজদীপবাবুর কথায়, একটি চক্র অপবাদ ছড়াতে ব্যস্ত রয়েছে। তারা রাতে মেডিক্যালে গিয়েও ডাক্তারদের সঙ্গে দুর্ব্যবহার করেছেন। তাই সাংসদ, চিকিতসক রাজদীপ রায়ের আহ্বান, গুজব ছড়াবেন না। ডাক্তার, নার্স সহ হাসপাতাল কর্তৃপক্ষকে তাদের কাজে সহযোগিতা করুন।

November 2: The truck mishap which claimed the lives of two girls and injured 19 others on Wednesday night seems to be shrouded in fresh controversies. On that fateful night, the service provided by all section of the employees of Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) is noteworthy. However, with the passage of 4 days, the intimacy with which the injured were treated seemed to diminish. This was claimed by those injured and their relatives who are at present admitted in SMCH.

The patients and their relatives have also aired grievance against the public representatives. They said that the Deputy Speaker and the MP claimed before media on that night of the accident that government will bear all the expenses of their treatment. They had proclaimed that the poor families need not spend a penny for the treatment of the injured. This assurance was printed in bold letters in the newspapers. Even the electronic media showed these tall claims of the political leaders.

However, the patients and their relatives claimed that now they have to purchase medicines from outside. Nobody now comes to ask them of their condition. Whenever they ask for medicines from SMCH, they get several types of reply. Sometimes they are told that the medicine was out of stock and at other time they are told that the particular medicine is not supplied by the government. As such, along with physical sufferings, the victims of accidents are now trapped in financial crisis too.

But all such allegations were refuted by MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy. He said that he has personally verified that the Meherpur accident patients are getting proper treatment. Only 2 patients were prescribed Mupirocin (1 tube) and Trypsin- Chymotrypsin (10 tabs)which they got from Amrit Pharmacy. Apart from this, the patients did not have to buy anything or pay for any investigations. Even blood transfusion was given without replacement or charges. He said that some people are intentionally spreading false information. They come at night and heckle doctors on duty. He requested not to spread rumours and rather cooperate with the hospital authorities, doctors and staff.
