24-hour Dima Hasao & Karbi Anglong bandh on Tuesday

মঙ্গলবার ২৪ ঘণ্টার  ডিমা হাসাও, কার্বি আংলং ও পশ্চিম কার্বি আংলং জেলায় বনধ ডেকেছে অটোনমাস স্টেট ডিমান্ড কমিটি (এএসডিসি)। ভোর ৫টা থেকে এই বনধ শুরু হবে বলে আহ্বায়কদের পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে। দীর্ঘদিন ধরে অসমের পার্বত্য জেলাগুলিকে নিয়ে পৃথক রাজ্যের দাবিতে আন্দোলন করে চলেছে এই সংগঠন। বেশ কিছুদিন ধীরলয়ে চলে এ বার ফের আন্দোলনে ঝাঁপিয়েছে। এই বনধ নিয়ে প্রশাসনের তরফে সোমবার বিকেল পর্যন্ত কোনও বিবৃতি প্রকাশ করা হয়নি। একইভাবে নীরব রয়েছে উত্তর-পূর্ব সীমান্ত রেল। ফলে বনধ ঘিরে বরাক উপত্যকার রেলযাত্রীরা উতকণ্ঠায়।

Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) has called for a 24-hour bandh on Tuesday in the districts of Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. ASDC has informed that the bandh will start from 5 AM on Tuesday. The committee was demanding for a separate state comprising of the hill districts of Assam.

Though in the recent past, ASDC was carrying on their agenda in a slow pace but now once again their demand has gained momentum. The district administration has given no statement in this regard till Monday late afternoon. In a similar way, even the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) is silent on this matter. As such, the railways passengers of Barak Valley are tensed. Uncertainty seems to loom large over their travel schedule.
