Udharbond Kalibari Road Puja formally inaugurated by DC Cachar

  1. October 3: Gone are those days when Puja pandals used to open for visitors on the day of Maha Saptami. Now-a-days, pandals are inaugurated much ahead of the actual days of the Durga Festival. On the day of ‘Chaturthi,’ that is, 3 days ahead of Maha Saptami, the much hyped Udharbond Kali Bari Road Durga Puja was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri. She was accompanied by Additional Police Super Jagadish Das & Gourav Agarwal, former state minister Ajit Singh, DSP A.J. Barua and the head of Dainik Samayik Prasanga, Taimur Raja Choudhury.

Since the last few years, Udharbond Kali Bari Road Durga Puja has been the main crowd puller. The elaborate decoration, colourful theme and a fat budget to support all these is what makes the Puja a feast for the eyes for the visitors. Last year, it was based on the theme of Titanic. This year, they have made the replica of Akshar Dham Temple at Delhi. Inside the pandal, its a recreation of natural panorama.

The most attractive things which one can witness after setting foot inside the pandal is huge cages made out of jute and other biodegradable substances. Inside the beautifully decorated cages are kept 300 birds of different species. Though decorating puja pandal with live birds have invited sharp criticism from different quarters, yet the organisers of the Puja stated that they have procured the birds legally and full care was taken by them so that not a single bird gets hurt. The birds were procured from Kolkata and Tripura.

Just besides the pandal, the replica of the bridge over river Thames in London has been built. Devotees can also enter the main puja pandal by walking over the bridge. Enormous images were displayed in the multiple LED lighted gates. In short, the dazzling lights coupled with colourful pandal will definitely give a feel good notion to all the visitors.

DC Laya Madduri in her speech thanked the organisers of the Puja for not using plastic in the construction of their pandal. She emphasised upon maintenance of peace and tranquility and urged upon the organisers to take special care about crowd management. The other guests also appreciated the artistic decoration of the puja pandal.

This year too, there will be several gates to enter inside the pandal. A few gates were earmarked, the entry through which will be on the basis of donation. On the day of inauguration, apart from the guests, the Working President of the Puja Committee Rabindra Chakraborty, General Secretary Shankar Roy, Treasurer- Kalyan Bhattacharjee, Diba Roy among others were also present.
