No proposal to lower retirement age of central government officials, clarifies DoPT
September 25: Since the last few days, a section of social media has been abuzz for a while about the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) approving a change in superannuation rules of the central government employees. However, on Tuesday, it was clarified by the central government that there was no proposal at present to tinker with the retirement age of central government officials.
Rumours were heard primarily in social media where some posts were shared numerous times that the DoPT has given clearance to a proposal for reducing the age of superannuation of central Government employees with effect from 1 April, 2020. But the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has clarified that there is no such proposal and this piece of information is ‘unfounded and baseless.’
