Case registered against Minister Rajen Gohain for alleged rape

কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রী রাজেন গোঁহাইয়ের বিরুদ্ধে ধর্ষণের অভিযোগ উঠেছে। তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে একটি মামলাও দায়ের করা হয়েছে। তবে এ পর্যন্ত এ বিষয়ে কিছুই বলেননি কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রী। জানা গেছে, নগাঁও জেলার দেউরিগ্রামের এক মহিলা জেলার সদর থানায় কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রীর বিরুদ্ধে ধর্ষণের অভিযোগ এনে গত 2 আগস্ট একটি মামলা দায়ের করেন। ভারতীয় দণ্ডবিধির 417, 376 এবং 506 ধারায় মামলাটি দায়ের করা হয়েছে। নগাঁও এর পুলিশ সুপার মামলাটির সত্যতা স্বীকার করে সাংবাদিকদের বলেছেন, মন্ত্রী রাজেন গোঁহাইয়ের বিরুদ্ধে একটি ধর্ষণের মামলা রুজু হয়েছে। এমনকি অভিযোগকারী ওই মহিলার বয়ানের পাশাপাশি তার মেডিক্যাল পরীক্ষাও করানো হয়েছে।

একটি সূত্রে জানা গেছে, এই ধর্ষণের ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে আজ থেকে সাত-আট মাস আগে। মন্ত্রী গোঁহাই ও মহিলাটি পরস্পরকে আগে থেকেই চিনতেন। মন্ত্রী মাঝে মাঝেই তার বাড়িতে যেতেন। তাছাড়া এই ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে তখনই, যখন মহিলার বাড়িতে তার স্বামী বা পরিবারের অন্য কেউ ছিলেন না। কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রীর পক্ষ থেকে একটি মামলা দায়ের করে বলা হয়েছে, ওই মহিলা ও তার পরিবারের সদস্যরা তাঁকে ব্ল্যাকমেলিং করছেন।

মন্ত্রী এ ব্যপারে মুখ না খুললেও officer on special duty সঞ্জীব গোস্বামী জানিয়েছেন,এই মামলাটি অনেক আগেই তুলে নেওয়া হয়েছে। বর্তমানে এ সংক্রান্ত কোনও মামলা দায়ের নেই।

FIR was registered under IPC sections 417 (cheating), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) against Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain at Nagaon Police Station last week bearing the number 2592/18. The FIR was lodged by a 24-year old married woman in Nagaon. Nagaon Deputy Superintendent of Police (headquarter) Sabita Das said the case was registered against Mr Gohain on August 2 after receiving a complaint at Nagaon police station.

Sources revealed that the complaint mentioned that the alleged incident took place seven to eight months ago. Both Gohain and the woman knew each other for a long time and the Union minister used to visit her home. Mr Gohain had allegedly committed the crime at the woman’s home when her husband and other family members were not present.

However, on the flip side, Mr Gohain has also filed complaints of blackmailing against the woman and her family. Though he refused to speak to the media, Sanjiv Goswami, the minister’s officer on special duty claimed that the case against the minister has been withdrawn and there is no case as of today and as of now.

Ananta Das, officer-in-charge of Nagaon Police Station said the woman had pleaded to withdraw the case in the court but the “case still stands.” He further informed that the woman has refused to undergo medical examination.
