ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১৪ আগস্ট : দেশের ৭৯তম স্বাধীনতা দিবসের প্রাক্কালে কাছাড় জেলা ও সমগ্র বরাক উপত্যকার জন্য গর্বের মুহূর্ত এনে দিলেন কাছাড়ের সিনিয়র পুলিশ সুপার (এসএসপি) নোমাল মাহাত্তা । কেন্দ্রীয় স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রক তাঁকে ‘মেরিটোরিয়াস সার্ভিস মেডেল’ প্রদান করেছে, যা সততা, দক্ষতা ও নিষ্ঠার এক অসামান্য স্বীকৃতি এবং জেলার আইন-শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষায় তাঁর দূরদর্শী নেতৃত্বের প্রমাণ বহন করে।

সম্মান পাওয়ার প্রতিক্রিয়ায় এসএসপি নোমাল মাহাত্তা বিনম্র কৃতজ্ঞতা জানিয়ে বলেন, “এই পদক আসলে কাছাড় পুলিশের সমগ্র দলের যৌথ সাফল্য। দিন-রাত আমাদের অফিসার ও কর্মীরা কঠিন পরিস্থিতিতে অপরাধ দমন, দুর্যোগ মোকাবিলা ও জননিরাপত্তায় কাজ করছেন। তাঁদের নিষ্ঠাই আমার সবচেয়ে বড় শক্তি। আমি স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রককে ধন্যবাদ জানাই এবং এই সম্মান কাছাড়ের প্রতিটি পুলিশ সদস্যকে উৎসর্গ করছি।”

উল্লেখ্য, দায়িত্ব গ্রহণের পর থেকে শ্রী মাহাত্তা লক্ষ্যভিত্তিক অপরাধ নিয়ন্ত্রণ কৌশল বাস্তবায়ন, গোয়েন্দা নেটওয়ার্ক শক্তিশালী করা এবং জনগণের সঙ্গে পুলিশের সম্পর্ক দৃঢ় করতে বিভিন্ন সচেতনতামূলক কর্মসূচি চালু করেছেন। তাঁর নেতৃত্বে কাছাড় পুলিশ দ্রুততম সময়ে জরুরি পরিস্থিতিতে সাড়া দেওয়া, সংগঠিত অপরাধ দমনে দৃঢ় পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ এবং মাদকদ্রব্যের অপব্যবহার, সাইবার সুরক্ষা ও ট্রাফিক শৃঙ্খলা নিয়ে জনসচেতনতা বাড়াতে সফল হয়েছে। সীমান্ত চোরাচালান, মাদক পাচার এবং গ্রামীণ আইন-শৃঙ্খলা চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় একাধিক সাফল্যময় অভিযান জন-আস্থা আরও মজবুত করেছে।

একইসঙ্গে, এমএইচএ ৬ষ্ঠ অসম পুলিশ ব্যাটালিয়ন (এপিবিএন) কাঠালের দুই অফিসার, অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট কমান্ড্যান্ট নবীন চন্দ্র শর্মা ও এবিএসআই রবীন্দ্র সিংহকেও তাদের কৃতিত্বপূর্ণ সেবার জন্য পুরস্কৃত করেছে।

এখানে বিশেষ ভাবে উল্লেখ করা যেতে পারে, অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট কমান্ড্যান্ট নবীন চন্দ্র শর্মা ১৯৮৮ সালে বাহিনীতে যোগ দিয়ে ২০২৪ সালে পদোন্নতিতে বর্তমান দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন। আইন-শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষা ও সীমান্তবর্তী প্রত্যন্ত এলাকার বর্ডার আউটপোস্ট প্লাটুনের তত্ত্বাবধানে তাঁর নিষ্ঠা ও দক্ষতা প্রশংসিত। দীর্ঘ কর্মজীবনে তিনি ৯৮টি পুরস্কার ও প্রশংসাপত্র পেয়েছেন, যার মধ্যে ২০০২ সালে ভারতের রাষ্ট্রপতির পক্ষ থেকে প্রাপ্ত “স্বাধীনতার সোনালি জয়ন্তী পদক” অন্যতম।

অনুরূপভাবে, এবিএসআই রবীন্দ্র সিংহ ১৯৯১ সালে বাহিনীতে যোগ দিয়ে ২০২৪ সালে সাব-ইনস্পেক্টর পদে উন্নীত হন। রিজার্ভ অফিসার হিসেবে তাঁর প্রশাসনিক দক্ষতা, নিয়মানুবর্তিতা এবং দ্রুত সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণে সহায়তা করার ক্ষমতা প্রশংসনীয়। কর্মজীবনে তিনি ৭৩ বার আর্থিক পুরস্কার ও তিনটি প্রশংসাপত্র অর্জন করেছেন এবং তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে কোনও নেতিবাচক মন্তব্য নেই যা তাঁর আদর্শ কর্মনিষ্ঠার প্রতিফলন।

পুলিশ বিভাগের জ্যেষ্ঠ আধিকারিকগন এসএসপি নোমাল মাহাত্তকে “সামনের সারির নেতা” এবং “দলকে অনুপ্রাণিত রাখার এক অসাধারণ পরামর্শদাতা” বলে বর্ণনা করেন। শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখার পাশাপাশি জনগণের প্রতি তাঁর মানবিক দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি কাছাড়ে পুলিশ-জনসম্পর্ক আরও উন্নত করেছে। দেশের স্বাধীনতা দিবস উদযাপনের প্রাক্কালে, কাছাড় পুলিশের নেতৃত্ব ও কর্মীদের প্রতি দেশের সর্বোচ্চ অভ্যন্তরীণ নিরাপত্তা কর্তৃপক্ষের এই স্বীকৃতি তাঁদের অটুট নিষ্ঠার প্রমাণ এবং এক অনুপ্রেরণার বার্তা, যে পুলিশিং শুধু আইন প্রয়োগ নয়, বরং একটি নিরাপদ ও আস্থাশীল সমাজ গড়ার প্রতিশ্রুতি।

Way2barak, August 14 : In a proud moment for Cachar district and the entire Barak Valley, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Cachar, Shri Numal Mahatta, has been conferred with the Medal for Meritorious Service by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on the eve of the nation’s 79th Independence Day. The prestigious honour, bestowed upon officers with an outstanding record of integrity, efficiency, and dedication, reflects not only SSP Mahatta’s exceptional leadership but also the collective resolve of the district’s law enforcement machinery.

Reacting to the honour, SSP Numal Mahatta expressed heartfelt gratitude, calling the recognition “a collective achievement of my team in Cachar Police.” He added, “Day and night, our officers and personnel work under challenging conditions,be it crime prevention, disaster response, or community safety. Their dedication is my greatest strength. I thank the Ministry of Home Affairs for this recognition and dedicate it to every officer who stands guard for the people of Cachar.”

Since assuming charge, Shri Mahatta has driven targeted crime-control measures, bolstered intelligence gathering, and fostered stronger police-community bonds through outreach initiatives. His tenure has seen swift responses to emergencies, decisive action against organised crime, and sustained awareness drives on drug abuse, cyber safety, and traffic discipline. Under his stewardship, Cachar Police have mounted successful operations against narcotics trafficking, cross-border smuggling, and rural law-and-order challenges earning public trust and institutional respect alike.

The MHA’s announcement also brought accolades for two distinguished officers from the 6th Assam Police Battalion (APBn), Kathal, Assistant Commandant Nabin Ch.Sharma and ABSI Rabindra Singha.

Assistant Commandant Sharma, who joined the force in 1988 and assumed his current post in 2024, has earned a reputation for sincerity, dependability, and excellence in law-and-order duties, particularly in supervising Border Outpost Platoons in remote inter-state border areas. Over his career, he has been honoured with 98 rewards and commendations, including the prestigious “Swatantrata ki Swarna Jayanti Padak” by the President of India in 2002, reflecting a lifetime of selfless dedication.

ABSI Rabindra Singha, who began his service in 1991 and was promoted to Sub-Inspector in 2024, is recognised for his meticulous work as a Reserve Officer, deep knowledge of administrative procedures, and tireless commitment to duty. His efficiency and disciplined service have earned him 73 monetary rewards and three commendations from various authorities, with an unblemished service record that has set a standard for others in the force.

Senior police officials describe SSP Mahatta as “a leader who leads from the front” and “a mentor who ensures his team feels valued and motivated.” His disciplined yet humane approach has significantly improved police-public relations in Cachar. As the nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day, the recognition of Cachar Police leadership and personnel by the country’s highest internal security authority stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to service.
