6471 Polling Officers received training during the 1st round

March 23: The Training and Awareness Cell for Parliamentary Election, 2019 of Cachar district has started the first round of training schedule for the Presiding Officers and other polling staff in connection with the Lok Sabha Election 2019. As of now, 6471 Presiding Officers and other polling staff were imparted training during the 1st round.

Two training venues were selected for this purpose : Narshing H.S. School, Silchar and Cachar High School, Silchar. At Narshing HS School, training was imparted in 11 rooms whereas, at Cachar High School, 10 rooms were earmarked for this purpose.

The EVM/VVPAT Training & Awareness Cell of Cachar district spearheaded the training sessions wherein 52 Master Trainers (Assembly Level Trainers-ALTs) imparted training in EVM/VVPAT and poll procedure. The training was given by means of power point presentations. In every room of both the schools, there were two sets of Master Trainers: one gave training on EVM/VVPAT and the other imparted training on the poll procedure.

Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajib Roy, Election Officer Sudeep Nath, State Level Master Trainer Sudipta Dutta Choudhury (Bapi) went around both the training centres and monitored the sessions. The logistic support for the training sessions was spearheaded by the Training & Awareness Cell under the supervision of Mridul Kanti Chakraborty, Head Assistant of District Training Cell, Lok Sabha Polls, 2019.

Meanwhile, in this connection, Rajib Roy, Additional Deputy Commissioner and in-charge of Training & Awareness Cell has issued an order as per which two more days were earmarked for training of polling staff. The polling staff will be imparted training again on 26 March & 27 March at Cachar High School, Silchar. The training will be imparted in two sessions. The morning session training will start at 10 AM and continue till1 PM, whereas the afternoon session is supposed to start at 2 PM and end at 5 PM.

The prestigious Silchar Lok Sabha seat will go for polls on 18 April this year. The results of the election will be declared on 23 May, 2019. A total of 11,93,908 voters of Cachar district would cast their vote in 1461 polling stations to decide the fate of Silchar Lok Sabha seat. The Returning Officer of Cachar has chalked out a detailed plan in this regard. On 16 April, 2019 polling materials will be distributed at Jhapirbandh NATRIP in Udharbond for Sonai, Dholai, Lakhipur & Katigorah constituencies. On 17 April, poll materials from the same place will be distributed at 8 AM for Silchar, Udharbond and Borkhola constituencies.
