যুদ্ধ স্মারক জাতিকে উতসর্গ করলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রীNational War Memorial inaugurated by PM Modi, slams Gandhi family
২৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি : নয়া দিল্লির ইন্ডিয়া গেট সংলগ্ন দেশের প্রথম যুদ্ধ স্মারকটি জাতির উদ্দেশে উতসর্গ করলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি। এই স্মারকের মাধ্যমে দেশের সেইসব জওয়ানদের শ্রদ্ধা জানানো হয়েছে, যারা স্বাধীনতার সময় থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত দেশের জন্য জীবন উতসর্গ করেছেন। দেশের ঐক্য ও সার্বভৌমত্ব রক্ষা করতে বিভিন্ন সময়ে ভারতীয় সশস্ত্র বাহিনীর প্রায় ২৫ হাজার জওয়ান শহিদ হয়েছেন।
রবিবার আকাশবাণীর ‘মন কি বাত’ কর্মসূচিতে কথা বলতে গিয়ে প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি বলেন যে, দেশের সশস্ত্র বাহিনীকে সম্মান জানাতে এবং তাঁদের আত্মত্যাগের কথা স্মরণ করতে এটি হবে একটি ছোট পদক্ষেপ। প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, ইন্ডিয়া গেট ও অমরজ্যোতি জওয়ানের পাশে থাকা এই স্মারকটি দেশের স্বাধীনতা আন্দোলনে বীর শহিদদের আত্মত্যাগের কথা দেশের মানুষকে স্মরণ করিয়ে দেবে।
জাতীয় যুদ্ধ স্মারকটি হবে ৪০ একর জমির উপর। জাতীয় সুরক্ষা নিয়ে দেশবাসীকে বার্তা দিতে গিয়ে তিনি আরও বলেন, ২০ শতাংশ মহিলা যুদ্ধ বিমান পাইলট বায়ুসেনাতে আনার প্রক্রিয়া চালু হয়েছে। জওয়ানদের জন্য তিনটি সুপার স্পেশালিটি হাসপাতালও চালু করা হবে। বুলেট প্রুফ জ্যাকেট কেনা হয়েছে, অত্যাধুনিক রাইফেল অর্ডার দেওয়া হয়েছে।
এ দিন বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি বলেন, দেশের সব দুর্নীতিতেই একটি পরিবারের নাম জড়িত রয়েছে। রাফাল ইস্যুতে কংগ্রেসকে বিঁধে মোদি বলেন, আগামী কয়েক মাসের মধ্যেই দেশে রাফাল আসবে, যারা এ নিয়ে বর্তমানে দুর্নীতি ছড়াচ্ছেন তাদের মুখ বন্ধ হবে।
এই যুদ্ধ স্মারকটি তৈরির কথা ঘোষণা করা হয় ২০১৫ সালে। গত বছরই এই স্মারকটি উদ্বোধন হওয়ার কথা ছিল। কিন্তু সময়মত কাজ শেষ না হওয়ায় এটির উদ্বোধন পিছিয়ে যায়। প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, ভারতের যুদ্ধ স্মারক পাওয়ার অপেক্ষা এতদিনে পূর্ণ হতে চলেছে। এতদিন এ ধরনের কোনও স্মারক ছিল না বলে দুঃখ হতো।
এই স্মারকে চারটি বৃত্ত রয়েছে, অমর চক্র, বীরতা চক্র, ত্যাগ চক্র ও রক্ষক চক্র। এই যুদ্ধ স্মারক পরিসরে এক কেন্দ্রীয় চতুর্ষ্কোণ স্তম্ভ, এক শাশ্বত জ্যোতি এবং স্থল, বায়ু ও নৌ সেনার ঐতিহাসিক পরাক্রমের গাথা থাকবে। পরমবীর চক্র প্রাপক ২১ জওয়ানের বীরগাথা পরম যোদ্ধা স্থলে থাকবে।
The memorial has names of 25,942 soldiers who died in multiple conflicts after Independence engraved in gold on granite tablets, and placed on 16 ‘honour walls’ in two concentric circles named ‘Tyag Chakra’. At the centre of the circles is a 15.5-metre tall granite obelisk, where the PM lit the ‘Eternal Flame’.
Inaugurating the memorial, PM Modi also criticised the Congress over its Rafale stand. “The scandals of Bofors to the tainted helicopter deal reaching to one family says a lot, now the same people are desperately trying that the Rafale does not fly in the Indian skies,” he said.
The Prime Minister also said the “previous governments” showed “criminal negligence” when it came to addressing the needs of security forces. Stating that the Army had asked for bullet proof jackets in 2009 but had not got them till 2014, Mr. Modi said his government has purchased over 2.3 lakh bullet proof jackets after coming to power. “On whose head is this sin and stain?” Mr. Modi questioned.
The Prime Minister also announced a series of measures for the military fraternity including setting up of three super-speciality hospitals, increase in the intake of women officers through the Short Service Commission and online pensions claims among others.
The Prime Minister dedicated the memorial — built at a cost of Rs. 176 crore — to the martyrs by lighting the flame at the bottom of the obelisk. Helicopters of the Air Force showered rose petals and a fly-past in ”Missing Man” formation was also part of the event.
