৩১ জানুয়ারি : আরএসএস আয়োজিত সভায় গিয়েও মার খেতে হল বিজেপি জেলা সভাপতিকে। তিনসুকিয়া জেলা বিজেপি সভাপতি লক্ষেশ্বর মরানকে আসু কর্মীদের মারধরের ঘটনাটি এখন সারা রাজ্যে আলোচনার কেন্দ্রবিন্দুতে। চার দিন আগে নলবাড়িতে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সভাকে ঘিরে বিজেপি ও আসুর মধ্যে যে সংঘর্ষ হয়েছিল, মরানকে আক্রমণ তারই পাল্টা বলে অনেকে মনে করছেন।

নাগরিকত্ব সংশোধনী বিলের বিরোধিতা করতে গিয়েই আসুর সদস্যরা বিজেপি সভাপতিকে মারধর করেছে বলে জানা যায়। জানা গেছে, তিন্সুকিয়ার একটি নাটমন্দিরে এই সভা আহ্বান করেছিল জনজাগরণ মঞ্চ। আর এই সভাটি বানচাল করার জন্য আগে থেকেই তৈরি ছিল আসু, জাতীয়তাবাদী যুব ছাত্র পরিষদ ও কৃষক মুক্তি সংগ্রাম সমিতির সদস্যরা। বিকেলে জেলা বিজেপি সভাপতি ওই সভায় গেলে প্রথমে তাঁকে কালো পতাকা দেখানো হয়। তারপরই একাংশ প্রতিবাদী জেলা সভাপতির ওপর চড়াও হন। তাঁকে কিল-চড়-ঘুষি কিছুই বাদ রাখেনি উন্মত্তরা। তখন সেখানে পুলিশ দাঁড়িয়ে থাকলেও তারা সাহায্যে এগিয়ে যায়নি।

তিনি তাদের হাত থেকে পালাতে গিয়ে রাস্তায় পড়ে যান। তখন তাঁকে উদ্ধারে এগিয়ে আসে পুলিশ। এমনকি পুলিশের হেফাজতে থাকার পরও বিজেপি সভাপতিকে মারধর করা হয়েছে। তারা আরএসএসকেও গালিগালাজ করে। পরে তাঁকে স্থানীয় হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়। বিজেপির পক্ষ থেকে তিন দলের সভাপতি ও সম্পাদকের বিরুদ্ধে থানায় মামলা দায়ের করা হয়েছে।

তবে প্রদেশ বিজেপির পক্ষ থেকেও পাল্টা আক্রমণের হুঁশিয়ারি দেওয়া হয়েছে। ঘটনার নিন্দা জানিয়ে প্রদেশ সভাপতি রঞ্জিত দাস বলেছেন, এমন হলে বিজেপি কর্মীরাও বসে থাকবে না। তিনি আসুকে আইন হাতে তুলে না নেওয়ার আহ্বান জানান। তিনি এ ঘটনায় দোষীদের খুব শীঘ্রই গ্রেফতার করে উপযুক্ত শাস্তির দাবি জানান।

January 31: BJP’s district president in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district, Lakheswar Moran was thrashed on Wednesday by some protesters. Amid the ongoing agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, BJP’s district president arrived to attend a meeting organised by the Lok Jagran Manch, an RSS affiliate.The group has been involved in organising a series of public programmes in Upper Assam to ‘dispel myth’ about the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

A video of the incident has since then gone viral in the social media. Sources revealed that after the district BJP leader arrived at the spot, he was greeted with slogans and black flags by over 3,000 protesters. In the video, protesters can be seen thrashing the BJP leader. He was slapped, beaten and pulled by hair. The protesters also assaulted some other BJP members.

The injured BJP district president Lakheswar Moran was rushed to the civil hospital for treatment. The party has filed a first information report in this regard. Three local youth have been caught over the assault.

The incident was severely criticised by State BJP President Ranjit Das. He said that if such type of incidents are repeated, than the BJP workers will also not sit idle. He appealed to AASU not to take law in their own hands.
