Mourning Rally at Panchgram on the eve of PM Modi’s visit in Assam

২৪ ডিসেম্বরঃ প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি বগিবিল সেতু উদ্বোধনে অসমে আসছেন। বিজেপি নেতা-কর্মী সহ অনেকে খুশিতে ডগমগ। অন্যদিকে শোকগ্রস্ত অসমের দুই রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত কাগজ কলের শ্রমিক-কর্মচারীরা। দুই বছর ধরে বেতন নেই তাদের। বিনা চিকিতসায় বহু কর্মী ও তাদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। তাই এইচপিসি রিভাইভ্যাল অ্যাকশন কমিটি মোদির অসম সফরের আগের দিনে শোক মিছিলের আয়োজন করে।

পাঁচগ্রামে তাঁরা মোমবাতি হাতে হাঁটেন। মৃতদের উদ্দেশে শোক ব্যক্ত করেন। সেইসঙ্গে মোদিকে স্মরণ করিয়ে দেন, আড়াই বছর আগে নির্বাচনী প্রচারে এসে তিনিই মিল দুটি পুনরুজ্জীবিত করার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন। পরবর্তী সময়েও শুনিয়েছেন একই কথা। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সর্বানন্দ সোনোয়াল, শিল্পমন্ত্রী চন্দ্রমোহন পাটোয়ারিও দফায় দফায় মিল খোলার ব্যাপারে আশ্বাস দিয়েছেন।

December 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Assam on Tuesday to inaugurate the Bogibeel Bridge. This has led to a festive spirit among the leaders and supporters of the ruling Bharataiya Janata Party (BJP). Whereas, on the flip side, the employees of the two nationalised Paper Mills in Assam are in deep grief. They are deprived of their salary since the last two years. Many employees and their dependents have died without treatment.

It is in this backdrop that the HPC Paper Mills Revival Action Committee organised a mourning rally on the eve of Prime Minister modi’s visit to the state. They walked down the streets of panchgram with candle in their hands. They expressed grief for those employees and their family members who died due to poverty. They also reminded PM Modi that during the last election, he promised to revive the two mills at the earliest. The same positive attitude was echoed by him later also. Even Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Industry Minister Chandramohan Patowary assured to revive the mills. However, all promises remained as mere words.
