Clear evidence of Mizoram Police using LMG to fire at Assam Police, says CM Sarma

July 26: The violence which erupted at Lailapur in Assam Mizoram border on Monday took a ugly turn as six jawans of Assam Police lost their lives, while several other policemen including the Superintendent of Police, Cachar and OC Dholai sustaining bullet injuries. The injured policemen were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken a strong note of the incident and asked his Mizoram counterpart to exhibit restraint. Meanwhile, on the basis of fresh evidences, CM Sarma informed that the Mizo forces used Light Machine Guns (LMG) against personnel of Assam Police. Taking to his twitter handle, the Chief Minister wrote, “Clear evidences are now beginning to emerge that unfortunately show that Mizoram Police has used Light Machine Guns (LMG) against personnel of @assampolice. This is sad, unfortunate and speaks volumes about the intention and gravity of the situation.”
