১৬ সেপ্টেম্বরঃ টিউশনে যাবে বলে শুক্রবার ঘর থেকে বেরিয়েছিল সাত বছরের সানি দেব। দ্বিতীয় শ্রেণির ছাত্র। করিমগঞ্জ শহরের চরবাজার এলাকায় বাড়ি তাদের। টিউশনও কাছাকাছিই। কিন্তু নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে বাড়ি না ফেরায় মা অঞ্জনা দেব অস্থির হয়ে ওঠেন। টিউটরের বাড়ি থেকে সর্বত্র খোঁজাখুঁজি করেও ব্যর্থ হন। পরে পুলিশে নিখোঁজ সংক্রান্ত এজাহার দেন। রবিবার সকালে পাড়ারই জগদীশ মণ্ডলের ভাড়াঘর থেকে তার মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়। জগদীশ পলাতক। তার মূল বাড়ি বিহারে হলেও অনেকদিন ধরে চরবাজারে ভাড়াঘরে রয়েছে। পুলিশ সুপার গৌরব উপাধ্যায় জানিয়েছেন, জগদীশের খোঁজে সব ধরনের চেষ্টা চলছে। তিনি বিহার পুলিশের সঙ্গেও কথা বলেছেন।

শিশু খুনের এই ঘটনায় করিমগঞ্জ জেলায় চাঞ্চল্য দেখা দিয়েছে। কী করে সে জগদীশের ঘরে গেল, কেনই-বা এইটুকু শিশুকে হত্যা করল, লোকের মুখে মুখে ঘুরছে সেই প্রশ্ন। শুক্রবার রাতেই তাকে মেরে ফেলেছে, নাকি শনিবার—তাও বোঝা যাচ্ছে না। গৌরববাবু বলেন, সব প্রশ্নের উত্তর মিলবে জগদীশ ধরা পড়লে। সে জন্য তারা জগদীশকে ধরার সব ধরনের চেষ্টা করছেন।

September 16: On Friday, 7 year old Sunny Deb went out from his house for going to tuition. A student of Class II, Sunny stays with his parents at Char Bazar area of Karimganj town. The house of his tuition teacher is very near to his house. However, when Sunny did not return home from tuition, his mother became anxious and started searching him in every probable place. Ultimately, she lodged a missing complaint in the police station. But on Sunday morning, the deadbody of the child was recovered from the house of one Jagadish Mandal, who stays on rent in the same lane as that of the victim. Since then Jagadish is on the run. Though he is basically from Bihar but is residing in a rented house at Char Bazar area since a long time. Police Super Gaurav Upadhay has informed that his team is trying their level best to nab Jagadish. He has also collaborated with Bihar police.

The murder of the child has become a matter of grave concern for the people of Karimganj. People are wondering as to how the child went to the house of Jagadish and what made Jagadish to kill the innocent child. It is also not clear whether the child was killed on Friday or Saturday. Gaurav Upadhay expressed the view that answer to all these questions can be found only when Jagadish will be nabbed. That is why police is trying to locate the whereabouts of Jagadish.
