5 persons injured in auto-rickshaw accident, students block National Highway at Suprakandi

November 15: In a tragic incident, 5 persons including a girl student sustained serious injuries after their auto-rickshaw collided with a heap of sand kept near the roadside at Fakirabazar of Suprakandi in Karimganj district.

The young girl, a student of Royal School along with her father and 3 others were all rescued from inside the auto-rickshaw in critical condition. All of them were bleeding. Local people alleged that heaps of sand were kept in the road side resulting in narrowing of the main street, which caused the accident. The injured were rushed to nearby hospital for treatment.

Later on, the agitated mob comprising of local people and school students blocked the National Highway at Fakirabazar of Suprakandi. Police forces reached the spot and assured the public that they will take strict action against those who keep sand on the roadside. They also assured to get the sand heaps cleared, after which the blockade was withdrawn.
