5-day Pre-Regional Mathematics Olympiad camp organised at G.C. College

October 25: The Department of Mathematics, Guru Charan College Silchar, which is gaining speed in spanning the knowledge of Mathematics within the valley has conducted a Pre-RMO (Pre-Regional Mathematics Olympiad) camp inside the college campus in collaboration with the Cachar chapter of  Assam Academy of Mathematics (AAM).  The camp was organised from 15 to 19  October, 2019.

It needs mention here that this is the fourth mathematics oriented camp organised in Silchar by the Mathematics department of G.C. College, SIlchar. A total of 23 number of olympiad aspirants from various schools and colleges of Silchar participated in the camp with full enthusiasm. The main objective of the camp was to make aspirants familiar with some descent amount of techniques and skills of how to tackle the tricky mathematical problems during olympiad without falling into the hands of depression and hustle.

The aspirants were introduced to many such kind of mathematical problems and the process of solving those. The camp was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Debashish Sharma, who is a faculty of that very department and also the General Secretary of AAM Cachar branch. He was accompanied by four members of AAM Cachar branch Biplab Dhar, a research scholar from the department of Mathematics, NIT Silchar, Rahul Paul, an M.Sc student from the department of Mathematics, NIT Silchar, Shomavo Chakraborty, a faculty from the department of Mathematics, Palanghat Higher Secondary School and Sabyasachi Das, a B.Tech student from the department of Electrical Engineering, NIT Silchar.

On 20 October, 2019, certificates of participation were distributed to the aspirants in a programme held in the conference hall of GC College. A feedback session was also organised wherein the participants shared their views about the camp. All participants lavishly praised the faculty who imparted them training. On the same day, the resource persons were also felicitated.

It needs mention here that Assam Academy of Mathematics (AAM) is dedicated itself to construct a narrative on removing phobia of this very particular subject, Mathematics.
