43rd All Assam Inter District Chess Championship, 2021 (Senior) started on Monday

March 22: All Assam Inter District Chess Championship-2021 (Senior) organized by All Assam Chess Association in association with Central Sports Club started from Monday at Shemford Futuristics School, Guwahati. Altogether 141 players from, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, North Lakhimpur, Golaghat, Jorhat, Sonitpur, Cachar, Karimganj, Darrang, Kamrup (R), Nagaon, Morigaon, Nalbari, Barpeta and Guwahati are participating in the tournament. Top 4 players from this tournament will be selected to represent Assam in forthcoming National Senior Chess Championship-2021 to be held in Kanpur from 13th April, 2021.

Top seed Soram Rahul Singh (from Cachar), second seed Trailokya Nanda, third seed Santanu Borpatra Gohain, fourth seed Rakesh Chakraborty and fifth seed Simanta Das started their campaign with win. The tournament is conducting By Fide Arbiter M Arun Singh as Chief Arbiter and Senior National Arbiter Pranab Kumar Nath, Fide Arbiter Salina Masum and Senior National Arbiter Monimala Siinha are assisting him as deputy arbiter. Ravikant Tiwari is the tournament director of the tournament.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Mausumi Ganguli, Principal, Shemford Futuristic School, Guwahati. M Arun Singh, Vice President of All Assam Chess Association, Madhab Sarma, Treasurer, All Assam Chess Association and Simanta Das, Executive members of All Assam Chess Association was also present in the opening ceremony.

In the 1st round, 7 chess players from Cachar won. Two more rounds will be played during the day. Though 141 of them enlisted for the tournament, but now 132 of them are participating this competition.
