Assam University declared as COVID Care centre

August 16: Assam University, Silchar was declared as a Covid Care Centre (CCC) keeping in consideration the increasing load of asymptomatic COVID positive cases in the district and to reduce bed occupancy at SMCH and other hospitals. This CCC at Assam University will be of 500-bedded capacity.

A notification in this regard was issued by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson of District Health Society, Cachar on 15 August. In the said order, it was stated that, “The arrangement has been made with a view to cater the emergency situation situation arising out of increasing load of COVID positive cases being reported in the district. The necessary HR deployment, training as well as medical instruments supply will be done by SDM&HO Dholai BPHC in consultation with Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar in the above notified CCC. The logistics supply in the CCC will be ensured by DDMA Cachar. Necessary infrastructural gaps will be met by District Administration as per need.”
