পিতার মৃত্যুর পরদিনই গুণোতসবে ! দুই শিশুকে সাহায্য পাঠাচ্ছেন প্রবাসীরা

৪ নভেম্বরঃ ১১ অক্টোবরের গুণোতসবে একশো শতাংশ ছাত্র-উপস্থিতির জন্য তৈরি ছিল কালাইনের ৫১০ নং দিলুরাম এলপি স্কুল। এর ঠিক আগের দিন যক্ষ্মায় ভুগে প্রাণ হারান দিনমজুর অমূল্য রায়। ঘটনা গত বছরের। তার মেয়ে পল্লিতা তখন তৃতীয় শ্রেণিতে পড়ে। কবিতা পড়ে দ্বিতীয় শ্রেণিতে। তাদের তো আর গুণোতসবে অংশ নেওয়ার প্রশ্ন ওঠে না ! একশো শতাংশের পরিকল্পনা মার খাওয়ায় শিক্ষকদের যখন মন খারাপ তখনই স্কুলে গিয়ে উপস্থিত হয় দুই বোন পল্লিতা-কবিতা। জানায়, বাবা সবসময় বলতেন, স্কুল কামাই করো না। তাই বাবার মৃত্যুর পরদিনও হাজির হয়েছে তারা।

স্থানীয় পত্রিকার ইন্টারনেট সংস্করণে এই খবর পেয়ে বিস্মিত হন প্রবাসী ভারতীয়দের অনেকে।আবু ধাবি থেকে যোগাযোগ করেন দীপঙ্কর দে। কথা দিয়েছিলেন, মাধ্যমিকে বসা পর্যন্ত প্রতি মাসে আড়াই হাজার টাকা করে পাঠাবেন। নমিতা রায়ের ব্যাঙ্ক অ্যাকাউন্টে মেয়েদের জন্য নিয়মিত জমা পড়ছে ওই টাকা। শিলচরেই মূল বাড়ি দীপঙ্করবাবুর। অনেকদিন হয়, সপরিবারে পাড়ি দিয়েছেন আরব দেশে।

একই রকমের ঘটনা লন্ডনপ্রবাসী সিদ্ধার্থ চক্রবর্তীর। পরিবারের কেউ এখন আর শিলচরে থাকেন না। দিনমজুর অমূল্য রায়ের মেয়েদের কথা পড়ে তাঁরও মন চাইছিল সাহায্য করার ! কিন্তু কী করে করবেন ভেবে পাচ্ছিলেন না। কিছুদিন আগে তাঁর পুরনো প্রতিবেশী, লোকগবেষক অমলেন্দু ভট্টাচার্যের সঙ্গে কথা হয়। প্রসঙ্গক্রমে উঠে আসে এক বছর ধরে মনের কোণে পুষে রাখা সেই কথা। অমলেন্দুবাবু আশ্বস্ত করেন, তিনি তাদের বাড়ি গিয়ে সে টাকা পৌঁছে দেবেন। রবিবার শিলচর থেকে ৫৪ কিলোমিটার দূরে কালাইনের ভাটগ্রামে গিয়ে নমিতাদেবীর হাতে ১০ হাজার টাকা তুলে দেন তিনি। সিদ্ধার্থবাবু লন্ডন থেকে জানিয়েছেন, এটা প্রথম কিস্তি। পড়ার প্রয়োজনে যে কোনও সময় তাদের পাশে দাঁড়াবেন।

চার মেয়েকে নিয়ে দিশাহারা নমিতা দেবী ১১ অক্টোবর পল্লিতা-কবিতাকে স্কুলে পাঠালেও কতদিন তা সম্ভব হবে, চিন্তায় ছিলেন। দুই প্রবাসীর ভরসায় এ দিন বললেন, মেয়েরা যতটা পড়তে চায়, প্রয়োজনে ভিক্ষা করে পড়াব।

November 4:  510 No. Diluram L.P. School at Kalain was full prepared for cent percent students’ attendance during Gunotsav. But on the previous day, daily labourer Amulya Roy died due to leprosy. The incident happened last year. His daughter Pallita was then studying in Class III. Her younger sister Kabita was a student of Class II. In that critical juncture, there was no probability for the two sisters to attend school next day during Gunotsav. The teachers were also worried because due the absence of the two sisters, they would not be able to exhibit cent percent attendance of students before the External Evaluator. All of a sudden, the two girls reached school. On being asked, they replied that their father always encouraged them to miss school. So though their father passed away the previous day, yet they came to school to honour the wishes of their dead father.

This incident came as a news item in the internet version of a local newspaper of Silchar, which was read by many Non Resident Indians (NRI). Dipankar Dey, a NRI from Abu Dhabi also came across this news and somehow contacted the family of Late Amulya Roy. He promised to send an amount of two thousand and five hundred every month till the girls give their HSLC exam. Mr. Dey kept his promise and deposits the sum assured in the bank account of Namita Roy (wife of deceased Amulya Roy) every month. Dipankar Dey hails from Silchar but has settled down in Abu Dhabi since many years along with his family.

Similar is the case with another NRI. He is Sidhhartha Chakraborty, who is presently residing in London. He too was from Silchar. After readingthe news, he too wanted to stand besides the family. He was unable to contact them. Meanwhile, one day while talking over telephone with his former neighbour at Silchar, Amalendu Bhattacharjee, retired Professor of G.C. College, this particular topic came up. Prof. Bhattcahrjee assured Mr. Sidhhartha Chakraborty that he will find out the whereabouts of the family. Where there is a will, there is a way. Ultimately, he could trace their address. On Sunday, Prof. Amalendu Bhattacharjee went to their house at Kalain, which is 54 kms away from Silchar and handed over a cash amount of Rs. Ten thousand which was sent from London by Sidhhartha Chakraborty. Mr. Chakraborty further assured that he would be sending more money, if required for the education of the girls.

With 4 girls, Namita Roy was in deep water after the death of her husband and was not sure about continuing the studies of her daughters, Namita and Kabita. However, the monetary help provided by the two NRIs has eased her problem. She is now hopeful of being able to send her daughters to school.
