1st big victory for NDA in Rajya Sabha, CAB not to be sent to Select Panel
December 11: It’s the first big victory for the NDA in the Rajya Sabha since the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill has been introduced in the Rajya Sabha. Voting took place at 8 PM on Wednesday as regards sending the CAB to a select committee of the Rajya Sabha. So it can be said that the CAB has been successfully able to cross the 1st hurdle in the Rajya Sabha.
On the question of whether the Bill should be send to a select committee, voting took place. In the voting, 113 votes were registered against sending off the Bill to select panel, whereas 92 of the MP’s voted in favour of sending the CAB to select panel out of a total of 2016 Members of Parliament who were present and voting. As per initial reports, Shiv Sena walked out from the Rajya Sabha and refrained from voting.
The debate is still going on in the Rajya Sabha and the final voting will take place in the night.
