19 tests +ve in Cachar on Thursday, tally reaches 11,191

Active cases 117 in Cachar

Dec. 17: On Thursday, a total of 19 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 2003 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 18 persons were found positive, whereas only 01 person was detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Thursday night.

With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 11,191. Further, a total of 11,036 patients were discharged in the district as of now. Cachar registered a total of 38 COVID-19 deaths till now. At present, there are 117 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that 10 persons were found positive in Cachar on Wednesday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Thursday said that in the last 24 hours, Throat swab of another 421 persons were collected. 379 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 07 persons tested positive. Further, 573 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 01 was found positive.

Apart from this, 03 new patients of COVID-19 was admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 01 was discharged. At present, there are 13 active patients at SMCH, out of which 02 of them are in critical stage. Those in critical condition are Usha Dutta and Anjali Sengupta. A total of 09 patients are admitted in ICU, whereas 02 of them are put under oxygen support and 02 kept in ventilator support. Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none died due to COVID-19 at SMCH.
